WWE Survivor Series 2011: Putting WWE Title on CM Punk Was Genius Move

CM Punk is money in the bank for the WWE.

As Punk dove into the crowd to celebrate his championship victory over Alberto Del Rio on Sunday night, Raw celebrated their earnings.  Punk brings two things to the WWE: his personality is entertaining, and his lifestyle is good for the company’s image.

Punk once said:

Doubt [explicit] everything.  Take a foundation, no matter how strong, sprinkle generously with doubt, and watch it crumble.  Me?  I’m un----withable.  Not this knee, not bad weather, and certainly not the many men that wish bad intentions on me can stop me.  I rise up, not like a phoenix, but like the zombie corpse of Dick Murdoch.  This brainbuster is for you.

"

That attitude brings fans in by the millions.  Punk is funny enough to please the fans and cocky enough to provoke the haters.  That combination makes him more entertaining than the vast majority of professional wrestlers.

On the day of his WWE championship match, Punk said on Twitter, "...doing what I was born to do. A better class of criminal."

As I was saying…

Punk, as the Straightedge Superstar, allows him to, dare I say, be the potential role model that Raw usually doesn’t produce.  While professional wrestling stars’ lives have ended over the years from steroid abuse, as well as other drugs, Punk speaks out against drug use as well as alcohol.  The fact that Punk’s act coincides with what he truly believes, goes a long way for Raw’s image.

In CM Punk, WWE gets the money-maker, Who-Gon-Stop-Me attitude, while erasing their troubled past a bit at the same time.

It is great to see the WWE recognizing Punk as the best in the world.
