Jeremy Maclin Injury: Week 11 Status vs. NY Giants

Donald WoodNov 20, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without top wide receiver Jeremy Maclin Sunday against the New York Giants. Maclin is suffering from a knee strain and a hamstring pull.

Philadelphia wouldn’t have used Maclin much this week anyway because of the injury to Michael Vick and the starting status of mediocre backup Vince Young.

With both Vick and Maclin sidelined this week, the Eagles will look to LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson to step up big, as well as receivers Jason Avant and Steve Smith.

As if a test against the division rival New York Giants wasn’t enough for the struggling Eagles, the absence of their $100 million quarterback and star receiver makes this game almost unwinnable.

The New York Giants are coming off a tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but they will be facing a defense that is much more susceptible to a strong running back.

With the Eagles at 3-6 and the Giants at 6-3, this is Philadelphia’s last chance at trying to make a last-minute run to the playoffs.

They would have to win out starting against New York, but without Maclin and Vick, that just isn’t going to happen.

Maybe next year, Eagles fans!
