3 Reasons Why Tim Tebow Will Lead the Denver Broncos into the Playoffs

Will Tim Tebow be a legitimate quarterback in the NFL?

His performance so far this year is showing us that the answer to that question might be yes.

The Broncos started the season with Kyle Orton and after a rough start decided it was time to give Tebow a chance to see if he is their franchise quarterback.

It has worked out great so far, and you can expect Tebow to lead the Broncos into the playoffs; here are three reasons why that will happen.

Fourth-Quarter Performance

Tebow has a QBR (quarter back rating) of 86.4 in the fourth quarter, which is the second highest in the NFL.

Yes, he usually plays horribly for three quarters but he plays great when it matters most. Last Thursday against the New York Jets, the Broncos were losing 13-10 until Tebow led a 95-yard, game-winning touchdown drive, capping it off with a 20-yard run with less than a minute remaining.

In his first start this year, he brought the Broncos back from a 15-point deficit on the road against the Miami Dolphins. He threw two touchdown passes in final 2:44 of the game to force overtime, in which they won 18-15.

According to STATS LLC, the Broncos were the first team to rally from a deficit of at least 15 points in the final three minutes of a game since at least 1983.

He Can Run

Tebow’s ability to run makes him very dangerous. As the New York Jets witnessed on his game-winning run on Thursday night, he can make something out of nothing.

He is not your typical quarterback who has the ability to scramble; he has the mentality of a running back and is unafraid of taking a hit. Instead of running out of bounds to avoid contact, he runs straight at defenders in an effort to pick up extra yards. 

At 6’3”, 236 pounds he is not the easiest person to tackle when he is running full throttle. In his short career, he already has rushed for 615 yards and 9 touchdowns.

He is a Leader

Tebow knows how to lead a team. At Florida he won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, one of the many accomplishments under his belt. He also won two BCS National Championships, in 2007 and 2009.

Leaders know how to win games and even if it's not pretty, he gets the job done. In five starts this season, the Broncos are 4-1 and currently have a three-game winning streak.

He is not a fundamentally sound quarterback, but he is one of the hardest working athletes in all of sports. The more critics talk about him, the harder he works and he has done a good job of proving them wrong so far this year.

Will the critics finally get off his back when he carries them into the playoffs?
