The two fought hard to the finish, with Story exploding early on, but by the end Story couldn't finish the way he started and fell to Kampmann.
The two fought it out with Kampmann earning the split-decision in what was best described as quiet war.
What We'll Remember About This Fight
At least for me, it'll be that this was a well-fought battle but was done in the most boring way possible for the casual fan.
What We Learned About Martin Kampmann
Kampmann is still pretty much at the top of his game and that he can compete with just about anyone in the welterweight division. I think Kampmann is ready for another step up in competition.
What We Learned About Rick Story
I personally think his big win over Thiago Alves at UFC 130 was a fluke win considering now he has dropped his last two fights. He was pretty good in this fight, but he has a lot he can work on for his next fight—especially taking guys down since ha had some trouble with that against Kampmann.
What's Next For Martin Kampmann?
I don't doubt a possible fight with Alves is in the cards seeing as he just beat Papy Abedi at UFC 138.
What's Next For Rick Story?
Story will probably face a lower ranked welterweight to keep himself in the organization since he is now on a two-fight winning streak.
