Peyton Manning's MVP Campaign Continues

Joe KleiberCorrespondent IDecember 18, 2008

In the beginning of the season, Peyton Manning and the Colts were struggling and people were already writing them off for the postseason. Manning has taken over the MVP debates with his recent play and helping the Colts win seven in a row.

Has there ever been a quieter team who has won seven in a row? Even with Joseph Addai and others banged up, Manning has taken this team on his shoulders and has carried them down the stretch.

Now Manning's Colts travel to Jacksonville to play the suddenly fighting Jaguars. The Jaguars looked lifeless a few weeks ago, but last week played the Packers tough and came away with a victory. Playing the role of the spoiler, the Jags are going to be looking to try and put a dent into the Colts' seven-game winning streak.

IND@JAX Prediction: IND 27 JAX 24

I think this game will be closer than people think. Jacksonville has played well as of late and they won't fall flat on their faces in the spotlight. The Jags always play the Colts tough. (Even with their struggling season, they beat the Colts at Indy back in week three.)

I expect the Jags to run Maurice Jones-Drew until he can't breathe anymore. The Colts still struggle against the run so they will try and control the clock to keep Peyton Manning and company off the field. The Colts will have their way when they are on the field, because the Jaguars defense is so banged up right now.

Boom: All Colts and Colts defense

You have to play all your Colts against one the weakest defenses in the NFL right now. The Jaguars haven't stopped anybody, so start your stud Colts like Peyton, Dominic Rhodes, Dallas Clark, and Reggie Wayne, as well as sleepers like Anthony Gonzalez and the Colts defense.

David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew

These are the only Jaguars you can trust right now. None of their receivers are healthy or playing at a high level, but Garrard can make plays with his feet and his arm, so this is a tough matchup for the Colts. MJD should have a big game against the struggling Colts run defense.

Garrard 250 passing yds 2 td 1 int 50 rushing yds. MJD:120 rushing yds 1 td 6 catches 70 yds 1 td
