WWE WrestleMania XXVIII: Cody Rhodes/Goldust; Title vs Career?

I really debated with myself if I should even discuss this topic or not.

At first glance, I did not like this match idea, but the more I thought about, the more I liked it!

It has been no secret that Goldust is no longer a full time performer in WWE. His "golden" years are behind him, but he is still a good wrestler insider the ring.

The last time we saw him he was constantly putting on great matches on Superstars, NXT, and the rare match. I still remember his wonderful match against Chris Jericho in 2010.

On the flip side, we all can see the rise of Cody Rhodes. He has finally ditched the mask, and he instantly looks a lot more like a main event player than before.

However, I highly doubt he makes it to Wrestle Mania 28 as a main event performer. That is just wishful thinking right now. He will get there soon, but there is no need to rush him to the top.

That being said, why not have a high profile Intercontinental title match next spring in Miami? His little feud with Rey Mysterio last year at Wrestle Mania 27 was great. This could be along the same lines.

For those that don't know, Goldust has been on Twitter requesting a battle against his brother, Cody Rhodes. Not only that, but he will put his career on the line.

In order for the "career" stipulation to work, Goldust would have to be back on the scene for a few months before April, so it means something. Showing up a month before Mania and putting your career on the line would not pack much of a punch...

To make things even more interesting, Cody Rhodes is also rumored to be feuding with Booker T soon, as he is gearing up for another run inside the squared circle.

It seems everyone sees how great Cody Rhodes has been and wants to work with him. Booker T and Goldust have been known to be great friends, so they must see something in the rising star...

A feud with Booker T, which leads to Goldust returning in a few months? All leading to Wrestle Mania in a brother vs. brother battle for the Intercontinental title being Goldust's "farewell" match?

I am not much of a "fantasy booker," but I would not mind seeing that. As long as Goldust is made out to be a credible figure for Cody Rhodes to beat, it could work.

Again, Cody Rhodes is not a main event performer yet. He is getting there, but rushing him there would not be wise. Why not beat a few legends first and solidify yourself a little bit more? Makes sense to me...
