Santino Marella: Putting The 'E' in WWE

A few days ago, I wrote an article expressing my dislike of the new Chris Jericho character. I found him boring, and monotonous, whereas the old Y2J was lively, unpredictable and funny.

I missed the entertaining part of his character.

And the change in Jericho is symbolic of the change in the WWE. It used to be entertaining. It used to be funny. The backstage antics of, not just Jericho, but a lot of characters made it worth watching.

Take a look at some of these clips and tell me you don't want the WWE to return to this level of entertainment.

Edge and Angle

Team WWF

The Rock, Hogan and Kane

Those are just three examples of the golden era for wrestling entertainment. Now, perhaps today's WWE doesn't have the likes of The Rock, Steve Austin, and Kurt Angle, but surely they can do better than they are at the moment.

The only funny bits recently are by D-X, and those reunions are very few and far between.

Apart from one man, who has accepted global humiliation week after week for months now in order to make the WWE more entertaining. That man is Santino Marella.

Almost all his segments are funny now, and despite having the likes of Triple H, Shawn Micheal and Edge still there, Marella is now the man most people want to see.

I often fast forward through the matches because they almost always follow the same track, but whenever Santino comes on the screen, I watch it.

Marella is keeping the WWE afloat as an entertainment show, but he won't be able to do it forever.

Let's just hope the rumors of The Rock's return turn out to be true, although I highly doubt it.
