The UFC Needs Brittney Palmer Back Right Now

Matt JuulNov 9, 2011

UFC fans with a keen eye for the action in and outside of the Octagon may have noticed a conspicuous absence over the last few months of one of the promotion's most beloved ring girls.

This past summer, UFC ring girl Brittney Palmer announced that she was taking a break from the MMA spotlight to pursue her passion for art, making the move to Los Angeles, where she began taking classes at UCLA.

Palmer, an avid painter, wanted to take a step back from the glamour and stardom to make a name for herself as an artist.

Both the UFC and Palmer have stated that this would not be a permanent split, as both parties are still adamant about keeping some form of a working relationship.

But not having one of the most beautiful ring girls in the sport smiling and holding cards during UFC events has been heartbreaking for die-hard fans.

UFC mainstays Arianny Celeste and Chandella Powell will always remain at the upper echelon of the ring-girl totem pole, but the amount of popularity Palmer gained when she crossed over from the WEC is unparalleled.

Fans were thrilled to learn that this voluptuous bombshell was joining the roster when the WEC merged with the UFC.  But almost as quickly as Palmer entered the spotlight, she decided to step away for very understandable reasons.

But the UFC and MMA is at a point in history where they will be entering the mainstream as UFC on FOX 1 rapidly approaches.

And just as the premier organization has gathered the greatest fighters in the world, they should also feature one of the sport's best ring girls.

A return of Palmer to the edges of the famed Octagon will arouse the passions of fans and be a treat to the scores of new viewers that will be attracted to the sport after this weekend's landmark event.

There is no doubt that Palmer will be successful in whatever avenue she plans to take in her career, but a comeback to the biggest MMA promotion in the world will certainly be great for her, the fans and the UFC as well.
