Pittsburgh Penguins: 5 Things to Look Forward to When Sidney Crosby Returns
Sidney Crosby hasn't made it back yet, but he is getting very, very close. It's only a matter of time until he returns to the ice for the Penguins and that's great news for the franchise which has suffered months without their star.
Here are five things to look forward to when Sidney Crosby dives back into NHL action.
5. Face of the NHL
Often dubbed "The Chosen One" or the next "Great One," Crosby has been subject to a multitude of expectations since he entered the league.
He is the best-known player in pro hockey and after taking the Penguins to their first cup in nearly 20 years, he has become the face of the entire National Hockey League.
Whether you love him or hate him, the NHL will be much more interesting when its golden boy is playing again.
4. Continuation of a Legacy
Before his devastating concussion, Crosby was quickly on his way to becoming one of the best players in hockey history. We'll never know if he was actually considering retirement, but now his legacy will live on.
He has set a multitude of records and now he can continue to do so if injury no longer holds his tremendous talent captive.
Age is on his side and if he remains consistent, a Hall of Fame membership will certainly be in his future.
3. Face of the Franchise
The Consol Energy Center will simply erupt whenever Crosby comes back.
His presence won't only bring excitement to the stands, but he'll also bring energy to the entire franchise, from the front office to men selling cotton candy.
The fans in Pittsburgh have missed their superstar, and there won't be an empty seat in the arena on any day.
2. Leadership and Motivation
The Penguins race to the cup was cut short last season, but they're sure to receive the boost they need with Crosby's comeback.
He'll provide leadership on the ice and his return will motivate his teammates to play even harder than they had to in his absence.
The morale in the Pens locker room is sure to sky rocket.
The Penguins haven't had too much trouble putting the puck in the net this season, but Sidney Crosby will certainly add to the scoring.
Pittsburgh's offensive attack will be back at full strength when Crosby joins the likes of Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, and James Neal.
This on-ice spectacle is certainly something to look forward to for Pens fans and so is another Stanley Cup.
