Julio Jones Video: Watch Falcons WR's Sensational TD Catch vs. Colts

Julio Jones hadn't played in a football game since Week 5. He also hadn't yet caught a touchdown pass in his career.

That all changed in the first quarter of today's Week 9 game in Indianapolis.

The stellar rookie wide receiver has battled a hamstring injury for the past month and hasn't able to play at full speed until this week. The recovery time seems to have done the trick, though.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide star scored the same amount of points as his former school did last night against LSU on his first catch of the day. There is little doubt that, had Jones returned for his senior year, the Tide would've won last night.

On a 1st-and-10 from the 50-yard-line, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan let one fly for the physically imposing rookie. Jones didn't outrun anybody. He didn't outjump anybody. But he somehow tracked the football through the hands of three different defenders and wound up snagging the ball just inches from the turf as he stumbled to the ground.

The ruling on the field was an incomplete pass, but, as with new league rules, the potential scoring play was reviewed and was subsequently overturned.

The 50-yard catch is the first touchdown in what should be a great career in Atlanta. In fact, as I am writing this, he has already caught his second.

The Falcons, who are just finally starting to hit their stride this season, are extremely dangerous with a weapon like Jones at full strength opposite Roddy White.
