TNA: Did Impact Hit Gold with Karen Jarrett and a Divas Stable?

David LevinNov 4, 2011

Funny how the little things that make you mad about wrestling actually turn out to be a gold mine.

Maybe that is how the creative team at TNA and Impact are feeling now that the Knockouts Tag Team Belts are around the waists of Madison Rayne and Gail Kim. It would appear the brand and the VP of Knockouts, Karen Jarrett, have something really good going here.

But with all things that are good in TNA, can a good angle be written around this storyline?

When you look at the landscape of wrestling, especially with TNA, there are few things that move about and continue to keep wrestling interesting. Beer Money worked. Fortune vs. Immortal worked for a time. Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle worked for about 30 seconds.

A few months back, Velvet Sky and her feuds with Angelina Love, ODB and Jackie were a hit and they were major segments of the program. Now they are an afterthought.

Velvet Sky has the Knockouts Title, but for how long? Is Gail Kim now going to be the focal point of the division, and if so, what happens to other females like Tara, Sarita, Rosita and Toxxin?

Will there be other women brought into the mix? Melina is out there, and other there are female "wrestlers" who could add to the equation and bring back the excitement that was evident over the summer.

Just because the weather gets a little cooler does not mean the excitement of the Knockouts Division has to cool off.

If Jarrett's formula is right (and I know this is about creative), then Gail Kim will be the center of attention, and hopefully we will see Brooke Tessmacher, Rosita, Sarita et al get a shot at displaying their singles skills. There is no harm in trying it.

The Knockouts Division is one where error does not mean the end of the brand. It means regrouping is key to the transformation of something good.
