Week 9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Sam Bradford and More Sneaky Grabs

Andrew KulhaNov 3, 2011

NFL midseason is the absolute best time to utilize the waiver wire as a fantasy football owner.

Most, if not all, of theĀ mediocreĀ owners are freaking out when players get injured or more importantly, have bye weeks. In a desperate attempt to clear some room because of a bye or sit a player because of a bye, they will usually end up letting go of a good fantasy option.

If you go check your waiver wire right now, there are most likely a handful of good players who are either on a bye or will be hurt for a couple of weeks. This is the perfect time to outsmart your opponents and make a few sneaky grabs.

Here are some of the best options on waiver wires right now:

Sam Bradford, QB Rams

Bradford is probably on most waiver wires right now. He's been hurt, and most people are deciding to drop him off their rosters.

That's the key to this pickup, though. Bradford is going to most likely be out next week to recover, but chances are he will come back and put up some good numbers to end out the year.

If you need a quarterback, a potential keeper or trade bait, Bradford is a great pickup on the waiver wire.

Michael Jenkins, WR Vikings

Jenkins is also falling into a bye week, and he has beenĀ relativelyĀ unproductive this season, with only three touchdowns. That being said, rookie quarterback Christian Ponder needs someone to throw to, and Jenkins can undoubtedly be that guy.

Jenkins is a good pickup moving into the latter part of the season, especially if you need some help at wideout.

James Jones, WR Packers

Jones is a guy that you need to at least have on your bench, but many owners stray away from him.

Coming off the bye week, he is probably available because of drops.

He may be slated as the third or fourth receiver on the Packers' depth chart, but we all know that doesn't stop Aaron Rodgers. He loves to look at Jones in scoring situations, and so far, he has come up big this season.
