Cardinals Parade: St. Louis Fans Shouldn't Expect Another for a Long Time

Last Sunday afternoon was one of the busiest days in St. Louis history, with the Cardinals World Series Parade and the Rams upset victory over the vaunted New Orleans Saints.

With the streets running red with the color of their defending World Series champions, the St. Louis Cardinals are facing many serious questions this offseason.

The biggest question the team has to face will be who the next manager of the team will be.

After winning his third World Series in his 33-year career, long-time Cardinals manager Tony La Russa retired on Monday.

While it’s great that the future Hall of Famer is going out on top, it leaves St. Louis with a serious question to answer when it comes to the leader of their team off the field.

Bad news gets even worse with the possibility that Albert Pujols may be leaving the team via free agency.

Albert Pujols tried to get the extension signed before the season started, but with no agreement being reached before the start of the season, Pujols cut off talks and made sure they would not start again until the last day of the season.

MLB free agency started Sunday at 12:00 a.m. ET, and that means the big bat of Albert Pujols has the right and privilege to sign wherever he wants.

With the departure of his head coach and the turmoil at the beginning of the season over his contract, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pujols walk away from the Cardinals.

For the fans in the St. Louis area, absolute jubilation has turned to fear as they watch the two biggest names in the Cardinals franchise walk out the door with no compensation.
