Jordan Rodgers: Is Vandy QB Better Than Big Brother Aaron Was After 2 Starts?

Chris HumphreyOct 29, 2011

While it’s tough to live in the shadow of your big brother in just normal circumstances, what if your big brother is quarterback of the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers?

Vanderbilt starting quarterback Jordan Rodgers knows that feeling as he looks to follow in his brother’s footsteps on the football field.

As the young Jordan begins his career as a starter for a FBS program, is he a better quarterback than his Super Bowl winning older brother after his first two starts?

In the Commodores’ victory over the Black Knights of Army, Rodgers was able to throw for 186 yards and a touchdown but threw two interceptions that ended up not making an impact in a 44-21 win in Nashville.

For the older Aaron, the elder Rodgers had a bit of a better day as he came into Cal’s game on the road against Illinois and threw for 263 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Illini.

The younger Jordan had the better second start as he threw for 240 yards this afternoon in a near upset against Arkansas while Aaron only had 217 yards and two touchdowns but two interceptions in Cal’s triple overtime upset of No. 1 USC in Berkley.

So which Rodgers quarterback do you think had the better debut in the first two games of their collegiate careers at California and Vanderbilt?

If you’re looking at the stats of the games, you would have to give the edge to the younger Jordan as he threw for nearly 500 yards and two touchdowns while the elder Rodgers brother had a bit of an interception problem in his early moments with the Golden Bears.

In my opinion, Aaron had the better start to his starting quarterback career as Rodgers found a way to help California score the biggest upset in school history in the classic overtime victory over the USC Trojans, who went on to split the National Championship with the LSU Tigers in 2003.

So what do you think? Was the right Rodgers brother picked or do you think that the younger Jordan should have gotten the nod? Let me know in the comments below.
