Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone is set to take on Dennis Siver this evening at UFC 137, in a fight that will have some serious influence on the lightweight title picture.

Cerrone crossed over to the UFC from the WEC earlier this year and, since then, has gone 3-0 with the promotion.

Though fans who recognize Cerrone from his WEC days already think of him as one of the best lightweights on the planet, many UFC fans are still unaware of just how talented Cowboy is and tonight he has a chance to show them.

His opponent, Siver, is a UFC veteran and one fans have been taking notice of, due his two most recent wins over George Sotiropoulos and Matt Wiman.

So, a win this evening would accomplish a couple things for Cerrone.

First, it would get him some attention from the UFC fans and allow him to start building a following. Once the fans become more familiar with him, he will be more likely to be matched up against other high-profile fighters.

Also, a win tonight would edge Cerrone into the title picture.

He wouldn't be next in line for a crack at the belt, by any means, but he would be no more than a few big wins away.

A win tonight will earn Cerrone another fight against a well-known opponent, likely on main card of a pay-per-view or possibly the co-main event of a free card.

Tonight, Cerrone has a chance to step into the spotlight, but he needs to beat Siver to get there.
