BCS Rankings: Oklahoma State Cowboys Finally Own the State

Oklahoma has ruled the roost for long enough. A Sooner nation must now make way for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who are now the big boys in the room. 

This is not merely a tale of the Oklahoma Sooners failing to live up to expectations. Their epic loss to Texas Tech certainly helped reputations for their in-state rivals. 

But this is more about what Oklahoma State has done right rather than what Oklahoma has done wrong. Any way you slice it, the land belongs to the Cowboys, at least for the rest of the regular season. 

The ultimate answer to this question looms off in the distance, promising to give us closure as to which team is truly the national contender. 

December 3 is our early Christmas gift as we see two powers clash for ultimate bragging rights. Until then, I see no other way but Oklahoma State ruling the rivalry in stature and results. 

The Cowboys live up to their namesake by providing a shootout each time they take the field. Brandon Weeden has been a gunslinger of giant proportions. 

Justin Blackmon has been exactly what we thought he would be as he continues to be a leader on the field. Looking ahead, I don't see a team that can take down the Cowboys before they take on their bitter rivals in a couple months. 

They get a one-dimensional offense in Kansas State in a couple weeks. I also think Texas Tech gave every last ounce against Oklahoma. 

A Red Raiders team that has been mired by inconsistency will not upset the entire state of Oklahoma in one season. 

There you go Cowboys. You now have an entire month to do with the state as you please. The national championship is yours if you hold serve and take care of business. You fate is all up to you. 

That is far more than can be said from that other team.
