WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: 10 Matches We Need to Get at Survivor Series
Well, Vengeance is over.
Not sure what to say about that just yet, so perhaps we should just look forward.
Survivor Series is around the corner, and we have a lot to look forward to.
The Rock is coming back, and he will take John Cena out of the title picture for a while.
There is a lot of animosity building up, and it is all leading up to one of WWE's big four.
We could easily be gearing up for one of the better PPVs of the year.
The following are 10 possible matches for the PPV that could make it a success.
1. Air Boom vs. Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins for the Tag Team Titles
Some of you might not even remember that these two are still employed.
However, that is not their fault as they have the talent and ability to succeed.
WWE just does not give them opportunities.
These two have been tagged together lately with some good results, though only WWE NXT and Superstars watchers even know that they are teaming.
It is time for that to change.
The tag champions want some heel competition.
It is right here.
This match could continue the positive streak for the tag titles as Air Boom continues to bring the titles to relevance after the Nexus debacle on the titles.
2. Eve vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly vs. Natalya for the Divas Title
This has been a match that WWE has been gearing up for for months. Seriously, I am surprised it has not happened yet.
With all four easily having a reason to fight, why not have them all fight?
It could easily be a better match than what we have seen lately.
It could even be a catalyst for a title change with Natalya and Eve seeming like unlikely but possible choices to grab the gold.
However, I hope Beth would come out of this still champion unless it all set up a Natalya/Beth rivalry.
3. Zack Ryder vs. Jack Swagger
This is the part of the slide show where we talk about the people who deserve PPV shots but have no real way of getting into any other matches.
Swagger may be with Ziggler and Vickie, but he is not nearly getting the rub that you expect. He has almost become Ziggler's lackey.
Also, a victim of the Ziggler/Vickie rise in power is Ryder. He finally got a PPV match against a weakened champion, yet he still could not get the job done.
Well, at least on PPV, Ryder could get some retribution in a good match against Swagger.
5. Sin Cara vs. Wade Barrett
Remember when Wade Barrett was almost WWE Champion.
Remember when he was a breath of fresh air in WWE and looking to be the newest breakout star.
Well, WWE messed all that up.
Now, they need to build him back from the ground up. Starting with serious PPV matches.
Sin Cara just ended his feud with his evil black counterpart and needs a new feud.
Barrett needs something to sink his teeth into.
With Cara still almost undefeated in singles competition (except a loss to Christian), Barrett could really use a win here to continue his slow rise to the mid card at least.
3. John Morrison vs. Drew McIntyre
There are a reports again and again that Morrison is leaving WWE.
If that is true, he could at least help someone else find their way back onto TV.
Drew McIntyre is in desperate need of absolutely anything.
I wouldn't be surprised if he accepted a Hornswoggle feud at this point.
Regardless of whether Morrison leaves or not, this is a feud that could be great to see with both men being great competitors.
McIntyre needs a rub, and Morrison needs a rub.
A PPV match helps them both.
6. Daniel Bryan vs. Tyson Kidd
Daniel Bryan needs to get on TV and PPVs soon.
He is still the Money in the Bank winner, yet he has had absolutely no impact as of late.
He basically cannot cash in the briefcase anymore after missing easy wins off of both Christian and Mark Henry at PPVs.
All he has left is to start building toward WrestleMania.
Tyson Kidd is great and could use the rub of a match on PPV as well.
Honestly, I do not see any of the last three maybe four matches happening, but something needs to be addressed with these falling stars.
7. Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Title
The finish of their match at Vengeance was just a shame.
The whole match was not really the contest this feud deserved.
In order for this feud to be salvaged, Rhodes needs a rematch, and it could get it by putting his IC Title on the line.
This would almost guarantee a win for Rhodes and give him some real retribution for Orton's botch on him about a month ago.
If anyone deserves to beat Orton on PPV right now, it is Rhodes.
At least give him that.
8. Mark Henry vs. Big Show Falls Count Anywhere Match
Their match at Vengeance was a surprising contest.
It left an impression which is hard to say about many of the other matches, and the impression was positive.
I know that these two are big men who move slowly, but they have the capacity to work especially with weapons in play.
These guys could give us another huge moment at least if they fought once again.
We found out that these two cannot be contained by the ring, so let's get them out of it in a grudge Fall Count Anywhere match.
9. Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title
The WWE Championship must be defended at Survivor Series, and who would be better for Del Rio to defend the title against than Punk?
This could be a great back and forth contest as both men are stellar athletes in the ring.
The personal animosity could easily be built up here as they have a history tracing back to SummerSlam, where Del Rio took the title from Punk.
This probably won't be the beginning of Punk's WWE Title reign, but it would be the beginning of his rise to the title.
10. Team Triple H Vs.Team Laurinaitis
Team Triple H consists of: Triple H, Sheamus, John Cena, The Rock, and a mystery partner.
Team Laurinaitis consists of: Awesome Truth, Christian, Kevin Nash, and Dolph Ziggler.
This matchup needs to happen as it is a culmination of months of build-up.
This would be great to watch as Triple H would put Laurinaitis down for the count.
This could also be a great moment to reveal for the new Raw GM.
Notice that mystery partner on Triple H's team.
That would be filled by the new Raw GM.
At this point, it could be Mick Foley or more surprisingly Chris Jericho, but who knows?
Regardless, Triple H's team would be an all-star team of great stars with three veterans and two of the biggest faces in WWE.
This is the match to look forward to and hopefully speculate about until the moment that final man is revealed.
Hoping for a Good One
Survivor Series is about a month away.
That means that we could get some good build up for the night for once.
This way, we can get some serious heat and rivalries brewing without having to resort to rehashes again and again.
Vengeance left me a little cold, but I am still looking forward to Survivor Series.
How about you?
