Grading Tony Romo's Week 6 Performance vs. the New England Patriots

Alex HallOct 17, 2011

Say what you want about the play calling, miscues and missed opportunities, but Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo played valiantly against the New England Patriots this past Sunday.

The Dallas quarterback did everything he could to come out on top, earning a B+ performance from this featured columnist.

For the first time in the 2011 NFL season, Romo was not directly responsible for the outcome for the Cowboys, with No.9 statistically outshining New England quarterback Tom Brady for most of the day.

The rushing attack proved to be a lost cause for the visiting team, with Felix Jones suffering a high ankle sprain early and the tandem of DeMarco Murray and Tashard Choice proving ineffective.

This put the Cowboys in a one-dimensional look on offense, which is not where any coach wants to be, especially against a team like the Patriots. Despite this fact however, Romo was able to deliver a crucial touchdown and put up 300-plus yards for the fourth time this season.

His interception on the first drive prevents the A letter grade, but it says something about his resolve that after costing Dallas the game against the Detroit Lions before the bye and throwing a pick in the first drive against the Pats that he was able to come back and play as well as he did.

Given the play calling which is out of his control, Romo did everything he was asked to do and delivered what the Cowboys needed him to in what was nothing short of a hostile environment.

Dallas might not have taken down the now 20-game winning streak New England has at home, but it came as close as anyone has thanks in part to stellar play from their controversial quarterback.
