FT: Chelsea 3-1 Everton
- Should Juan Mata play a more central role? He isn't an out and out wide player and always leaves the left flank exposed. He is genius, he is to Chelsea as David Silva is to Manchester City.
- How serious is Ramire's injury? He's become such an important Chelsea player.
- Daniel Sturridge continues to impress, but I see him in more of a central role rather than a wide role.
- Clean sheets are an issue for Chelsea. Again, they conceded. Also again, from the right side, where José Bosingwa is the right back.
- With regards to Everton, I felt they defended quite valiantly at the start of the game, and as expected, once they conceded the first and then the second goal; they were sunk.
Chelsea man of the match: Mata. Brilliant. Enough said.
Everton man of the match: Jack Rodwell. Didn't stop running, in fact, he ran over 12,000 metres during the game, the second highest (Frank Lampard clocked the most) and tried his hardest.
In terms of impact, Royston Drenthe is class and must start. I'm wondering why Denis Stracqualursi doesn't get much game time. Then again with Greek youngster Apostolos Vellios taking every chance he gets, maybe that's why the Argentine can't get a cameo.
Talking about Vellios, it took him 18 seconds off the bench to score. Dam!
93'- For me, Royston Drenthe should start all of Everton's game. He's been a lively source.
91'- Okay. It's been timed. Apparently it took Apostolos Vellios 18 seconds to score off the bench. Waiting for Opta Joe to tweet something interesting related to Vellios' astonishingly quick goal.
90'- Four minutes of stoppage time to be played.
88'- Phil Neville and Frank Lampard tussling, Lampard throws Neville to the floor, referee Mike Jones waves play on. I wonder if referee Jones will hand out yellows.
Nothing too serious. Referee Jones decides to adopt a diplomatic approach by just giving each player a warning.
88'- You know... I just don't understand. Nicolas Anelka probably won't sign a contract extension for Chelsea, so why is he on the pitch? Why isn't Romelu Lukaku given a chance?
84'- The one time Daniel Sturridge isn't greedy, he makes the wrong decision. He should have shot instead of attempting to make the reverse pass to Frank Lampard.
83'- Chelsea again fail to keep a clean sheet. I wonder if John Terry is the culprit in the scheme of things? Or maybe, it's just an anomaly, just some weird run that sees Chelsea consistently conceding.
80'- GOAL! Chelsea 3-1 Everton
Ok... is that some kind of record? 10 seconds or maybe even less on the pitch and Apostolos Vellios scores? Massive mistake from me to transfer Royston Drenthe out of my fantasy team.
The Dutchman gets to the byline sends in a cross and Vellios scores.
The Greek is building up a case to be a starter.
80'- Everton substitution
- OFF: Louis Saha
- ON: Apostolos Vellios
The Greek supersub is on. Wonder if he'll score.
80'- Poor Everton fans. Some of them look miserable.
77'- Apparently Oriol Romeu's surname is pronounced row-maya. I was pronouncing it rom-oo. Row-maya sounds cooler.
75'- Chelsea double substitution
- OFF: John Obi Mikel
- ON: Oriol Romeu
- OFF: Didier Drogba
- ON: Nicolas Anelka
Sigh... I don't understand! Does Chelsea manager André Villas-Boas not like Romelu Lukaku? It will be interesting to see how Romeu goes.
75'- WOW! Elastico from Juan Mata to leave Phil Neville flummoxed. Remember last season, Neville had Gareth Bale in his pocket.
71'- Everton substitution
- OFF: Tim Cahill
- ON: Phil Neville
Cahill didn't really get much of a chance to impress. He has yet to score in 2011. With Neville coming on, it seems it's damage limitation time.
69'- YELLOW CARD to Daniel Sturridge for diving.
Royston Drenthe's reaction indicated that he had not touched Sturridge. Referee Mike Jones agreed and he made a perfect decision in spotting the Englishman's blatant dive.
68'- Excellent interception from José Bosingwa to cut out Leighton Baines' diagonal ball. The Portuguese has looked very good in the second half.
66'- Everton really looking dispirited. I wouldn't blame them. Chelsea are passing circles around them.
The Everton players are hardly pressing and really slowing down play when they do have possession. It will be a long 24 or so minutes left.
64'- Chelsea substitution
- OFF: Ramires
- ON: Florent Malouda
Hopefully Ramires' injury won't be too serious. One more substitution left and I hope Romelu Lukaku is given a chance because it's 3-0. So no need to sub on a defender or a midfielder. Sub on Lukaku!
63'- Ramires is on the floor in pain clutching his right knee. It seems he'll come off. Did he injure it when he scored the goal?
61'- GOAL! Chelsea 3-0 Everton
Good run from Didier Drogba who offloads it to Juan Mata and the Spaniard provides Ramires a close finish.
I'm really contemplating about putting the Brazilian into my fantasy team.
60'- Everton substitution
- OFF: Séamus Coleman
- ON: Royston Drenthe
Drenthe has looked dynamic everytime I've watched him come off the bench.
I can forsee Drenthe being a regular starter.
Chelsea need to keep a close watch on the dynamic Dutchman.
59'- What a 360 turn from Daniel Sturridge. The kid has just so many skills to be a top notch international.
57'- In the span of 30 seconds, Leighton Baines and Leon Osman both have snap shots. Both don't trouble Petr Čech.
Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka are warming up.
55'- José Bosingwa wins the ball in his own half, raids the entire right flank and then sends in a pretty poor ball for Didier Drogba. Rather than praise the Portuguese for such effortless running, the Ivorian is giving the wing back a piece of his mind.
Drogba really not having an influence in the game.
