UFC 141 Fight Card: 5 Fights That Vitor Belfort Could Take Next
After winning five consecutive fights, Vitor Belfort earned the second title fight of his UFC career when he met Anderson Silva at UFC 126.
Belfort was knocked out at 3:25 of the very first round by a kick that was heard around the world.
In his next fight, Belfort bounced back by defeating Yoshihiro Akiyama by knockout at UFC 133.
Now, still a legitimate contender in the 185 pound weight class, Belfort will look to continue his success in hopes of getting another chance at the Middleweight championship.
The following slides display five fights Vitor Belfort could take next.
Let's take a look.
Brian Stann
1 of 5Despite displaying a sub-par performance in his defeat to Chael Sonnen at UFC 136, Brian Stann remains a force in the Middleweight division.
Since dropping to the 185 pound weight class, Stann has won three of his four fights including two Fight of the Night performances.
Arguably the two heaviest hitters in the Middleweight division today, Stann and Belfort would make perfect sense.
Yushin Okami
2 of 5Since entering the UFC, all Yushin Okami has done is win.
Winning 10 of his 13 career UFC fights, Okami has used his experience in wrestling, judo and boxing to outweigh his opponent.
Vitor Belfort, similar to Okami in skill set, holds an advantage as he is much larger and stronger.
As both fighters have lost title fights to Anderson Silva, it'd only be fair to let these two square off inside the Octagon.
Chris Leben, Mark Munoz Winner
3 of 5Many UFC fans feel the winner of the Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz fight at UFC 138 will be next in line for a title shot.
But, with the emergence of The Ultimate Fighter Season 14, there's a possibility that Leben and Munoz could take a backseat to the winner of Jason Miller vs. Michael Bisping.
If this happens, look for Leben or Munoz to be preparing themselves for a bout with UFC veteran, Vitor Belfort.
Michael Bisping, Jason Miller Loser
4 of 5If the winner of Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz doesn't earn a title shot, Michael Bisping or Jason Miller certainly will.
And, it is very likely that the loser of The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale will be looking for a fight to get their career back on track.
What better way than to square off with highly dangerous Vitor Belfort?
Demian Maia
5 of 5After losing in depressing fashion to Anderson Silva at UFC 112, many fans felt Maia's career was headed towards a down spiral.
But, Maia has bounced back by winning three of his last four fights, all coming by unanimous decision.
A match between Vitor Belfort and Maia could be one of the more entertaining fights we see as both Belfort and Maia are masterminds in Brazlian Jiu-Jitsu.
