On Monday night, viewers who turned in to watch the Detroit Lions battle the Chicago Bears saw more than just a football game. They saw a stadium come alive in a way that has never been seen in Detroit.

Over 67,000 fans, including 2,000 in a standing room only section, filled Ford Field with a chorus of cheers that deafened everyone in the building. Monday night showed how powerful the presence of these Detroit fans can be. A new home-field advantage has been built in Ford Field unlike any other in the NFL.

For the people of Detroit, the Lions are more than a football team. They are a symbol of the city itself. Just like the city of Detroit, the Lions hit rock bottom a few years ago, but they never gave up. They are showing the world that they are coming back, stronger than ever. The Detroit Lions represent the new hope coming in the state of Michigan.

Because of this struggle that the city has shared with the Lions, a connection exists between these fans and their football team like nowhere else in the country. Supporters stuck by the Detroit Lions through the worst decade in NFL history. Now that the Lions are on top of the NFL, the whole nation can see the dedication and passion that the Detroit Lions have.

The Detroit Lions are more than a football team. Monday night was more than a game. It was a chance to celebrate when so much else is wrong.

Fans flocked to the heart of Detroit, Monday night and filled the stadium with cheers of victory. They poured the stress of their everyday life into the stadium and created one of the most electrifying football games the NFL has ever seen.

The regular season attendance record at Ford Field was shattered as 67,861 fans cheered on their team in a stadium built for 65,000. The result of this enormous crowd played an undeniable role in the outcome of this game. The Detroit Lions came out fueled by the passion of their fans and the Chicago Bears were a complete mess all game long.

The constant screaming resulted in confusion for Chicago’s offense and led to them being called for nine false start penalties. The crowd was the motivation for the Detroit Lions to pull off a huge 24-13 victory over last year’s NFC North Division Champions.

If this type of excitement continues throughout the rest of the season, Ford Field will quickly become one of the toughest NFL stadiums in the country to play in. This home-field advantage might be exactly what the Detroit Lions need to make their way into the playoffs, and possibly take a run at their first ever Super Bowl.

The loyalty showed by Detroit fans seems to be finally paying off. Detroit had the chance to show the nation how much the Detroit Lions mean to the city and how dangerous their team can really be. Their argument was heard loud and clear.
