UFC 136 Results: 4 Exciting Fights for Leonard Garcia

Leonard Garcia and Nam Phan won Fight of the Night honors at UFC 136, a rematch from December of 2010 where Garcia was awarded a highly disputed split decision.

This time the judges got it right and Garcia won the fight via unanimous decision; nevertheless, Garcia has nothing to be ashamed of as it was one of the best fights of 2011.  

Garcia will always be criticized for winning highly disputed decisions, but fans can't deny how appealing his let it all hang out brawling style is.  

On a two-fight losing streak, here's a few fighters who could give Garcia an enticing match up.  

George Roop

George Roop and Garcia fought to a draw at WEC 47 in March of 2010 and despite no clear-cut winner, it was a Fight of the Night battle. 

Garcia has been game for rematches with Nam Phan and Jung Chan-Sung in the past, so why not one with Roop?

The two talented strikers would no doubt wow the fans once again. 

Josh Grispi

Grispi is also on an 0-2 losing streak, so pitting these guys against each other makes sense based on that alone.  

The good news is that Grispi likes to stand and trade as well, so this one promises for some fireworks. 

Interestingly, both men have victories over Jens Pulver, and also have common opponents in Mark Hominick and George Roop.  

Hominick defeated Garcia by split decision, while Roop submitted Hominick with a rear naked choke. 

As noted on the previous slide, Roop and Garcia fought to a draw last year, while Roop defeated Grispi by TKO with a body punch back in June. 

Michael Johnson

A finalist in the 12th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" could use a bounce-back fight after being submitted by Paul Sass at UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson, and a fight with Garcia could be immensely entertaining. 

Johnson does utilize some wrestling from time to time in his fights, but he is primarily a stand-up guy who prefers to rely on his boxing.  

There would definitely be plenty of action on the feet if Garcia ever met Johnson in the Octagon.  

Erik Koch

Don't let his seven submission wins be misleading, Erik Koch loves to stand and trade with his opponents. 

Koch is 13-1 as a professional fighter, with his sole loss coming against top contender Chad "Money" Mendez, where Koch badly cut open Mendez over his right eye. 

"New Breed" is generally a very disciplined striker with decent power, so seeing him deal with the wild brawling of Leonard Garcia would certainly be interesting.
