Carolina Hurricanes Out and About Tonight
There are a couple things going on later that bear mentioning.
Canes Corner with Mike Maniscalco is on the air again tonight on 99.9 The Fan from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with guest Glen Wesley. If youโre in the neighborhood, drop by to watch the segment live at MacGregorโs Draft House.
Also tonight The Carolina Ale House in Durham is hosting the first "The Heart of the Hurricanes Campaign." Chad LaRose was originally scheduled to be there signing hearts and other trinkets, but Tim Gleason will be filling in because of LaRose's injury last night. Kudos to Gleason for that. Could Sens Trade for Barzal? ๐ค
In retrospect, perhaps Carolina played better last night than I gave them credit for. Nashville is a pretty darn good team and they have an excellent defense. Itโs not easy to generate good scoring chances against them.
Having said that, the Hurricanes still need to step it up a notch if they plan to make the playoffs. The original plan was to win 20 of their last 30 games. So far they are on pace to win 15.
The Capitals play the Flyers tonight, so if they win they will be in first place in the Division. Letโs face it, if they beat the Flyers in Philadelphia on the second night of a back-to-back, they deserve first place. Atlanta and Florida play again tomorrow night while the Canes wait until Friday. What will the standings look like then?
Now that LaRose is injured, it just makes it that much tougher for Jim Rutherford to make a trade. First Justin Williams is injured, then Matt Cullen, and now Larose? Caniacs must be wondering: Whatโs next?
