Andre Johnson in Week 13: Playoffs or Bust

Andre Johnson.  That's it.  Andre Johnson.  This is why we love fantasy football.

Nights like this are why we play year after year.  We've battled it out for 12 weeks. The 10 teams that make up the "Down and Out" League have gone at it, just like you have for the past 12 weeks.  And it all comes down to Andre Johnson.

In the "Down" division, "Scarlet and Gray" and "Super POTY Man" had already secured their playoff spots.  The "Out" division was much tighter, however.  A decisive victory by "Pain and Suffering" put him in position to make the playoffs based on the tie-breaker, but first he needed the results of tonight's game.

All of the other contests this week were either finished or so far out of reach that the outcome was long since determined.

Except one.  "The Snugglers" were trailing "Tropic Blunder" by 17 points coming into the night.  Tropic Blunder was done, all of his players had played by Sunday.  The Snugglers had one and only one hope: Andre Johnson.  With 18 or more points The Snugglers would beat out Pain and Suffering and make the playoffs.

You know the rest of the story.  Johnson earned 10 points (non-PPR league) in the first half alone.  A quick half-time phone call to Mr. Pain and Suffering yielded the following: "I'm done."  Surely Johnson would pick up eight more points in the second half and the suffering would then certainly follow the pain of an early fantasy season exit.

But it wasn't meant to be for The Snugglers.  Johnson was almost invisible in the second half, earning only three more points. And just as quickly as Brady owners were deflated in Week One,  Pain and Suffering turned to Joy and Elation.  He'd made the playoffs.

Nights like this are why we play the game.  Nights like this are what make the game so great.

BTW...

If you suffered the end of your season tonight, never fear!  Check out http://www.365fantasysports.com.  There you will find daily fantasy contests for cash or for fun all the way through the AFC/NFC Championship Weekend.

The site is simple to use and very self-explanatory.  You'll find a variety of different contests from which to choose.  Play against your friends or against other players you may not know, but you'd love to beat.

I just thought it was interesting that the entire season came down to one player's performance on one night. It was my first post...sorry if you didn't find it worth reading. If 124 people is the "entire community", uh, Houston, we might have a problem. Thanks for the candid feedback though. Hope you'll enjoy my next post more. - David

We have similar teams... I also had Plax, just dropped him and picked up Toomer (Hixon was not available). Like you, I also have Breaston. Lance Moore has been a decent addition for me, but not a world beater. Of course, I benched Westbrook last week in order to play Dunn and Grant. Hindsight, right?

Good luck in the playoffs, I'm in as well (Scarlet and Gray as mentioned in the story above). I hope you'll take me up on my invitation to check out my new website also when you get a chance. Everyone has loved it so far. I posted info on your B. Board. www.365fantasysports.com. Let me know what you think. - David
