A-Rod Visits Mexico and Sets Up a Baseball Clinic for Kids

Alex Rodriguez was in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico yesterday with Madonna. Alex set up a clinic for kids at a sports facility while he was there. It’s always good for athletes to give back to the community, and get kids involved in baseball.

The facility where he held the clinic, was built by the second richest man in the world…Carlos Slim Helú. This facility has two baseball diamonds and 25 soccer fields. I guess soccer is a more popular sport over there. A-Rod spent two hours yesterday working with the kids, and teaching them how to bat.

When asked what he thought about being in the city at the same time as Madonna, Rodriguez said it was “very good,” without elaborating.

“It’s a pleasure to talk about baseball, to talk about the importance of keeping children off the streets, out of drugs and out of all the bad things that there are in this life,” the New York City-born Rodriguez said in Spanish.

Brian Boehringer talks about the game, about playing, about being a part of something special.  But he also talks about the hard parts.  The travel.  The pain.  And the realization that, if you are not a top star in Major League Baseball, your phone calls don’t get returned as quickly as others.
