Portland Blazers Game 18: What Happens When Sheed and A.I Hit Da Club...?

Last night my buddy Willy, a 60-year old brother who loves hoops, said the best team out East is Detroit. I told him he was crazy, because Boston is the best team out East.  He said that was ridiculous, and that the only reason Cleveland and Boston knocked Detriot out the last two years is because the league would rather market LeBron and the Celtics.

I don't know about all that...

BUT...

I do know that when I saw Iverson was sent to Detroit...all I could think about is ..."Ahhhhh....no...happens when Sheed and A.I. hit the CLUB?"

Serious...

Can you imagine the big line to get into the hot late night spot...when uh oh...Sheed and A.I. roll in...with their crew...sporting mad bling...not a care in the world except to get down.

They walk right past that line and straight to their VIP headquarters.  You already know THAT would be a SERIOUSLY GANGSTER party, and quite frankly...I don't think they would invite me.

I know Detroit needed to shake things up, but ever since A.I went to the finals in 2001 (one of my favorite NBA stories...) his game has rarely impressed me.  He never helped Denver do anything save make the playoffs, and I do not see how he will help Detroit get past Boston. Cleveland maybe, but not Boston. A.I. cannot help Detroit beat Boston.

Onto the game...

I've written over my last two blogs that Portland needs to start beating big teams on the road to show the league our superiority. This afternoon, they did just that.

We came out strong and never let up.

WHAT A GAME!

Clearly Portland wanted this victory WAY MORE than Detroit. Detroit knows its not only early in the season, but they're going to make the playoffs. Meanwhile Portland needs EVERY WIN we CAN just to make the playoffs.

Still...we just beat a team many consider the best out east.  On their home court.  We made their fans BOO and leave EARLY.   We made Sheed SLAM the BALL on the court (I remember watching him do that in Portland...LOL!!) and we made their head coach hang his head in disgust.

As my buddy Ted said in his text message, "We're gonna kill this year."

Even though LaMarcus Aldridge had one of his best games ever...and Brandon Roy continued his All Star excellence...the reason we're doing so well has to be the addition of Greg Oden.  All we ever wanted was his PRESENCE...and look at how well that presence is paying off.

With the hardest schedule any team has EVER FACED...we're 12-6 and have won 8 of our last 11.

Oden's ability to pass out of the double team is what makes him so dangerous.  Oh yeah, then there is his pivotal shot blocks, his ability to make free throws, and his rebounding prowess.  He has the MONSTER JAM too...

Greg Oden...the whole world watched Portland throw that parade for you in Pioneer Courthouse Square...then the whole world laughed at you and lashed out when you got hurt...but big guy...you did EVERYTHING RIGHT.

Now onto New York...where we need to give the Knicks a solid THRASHING.

Because I lived in New York for two years and I can tell you this...

The Knicks SUCK.

I actually think the Knicks have mucho momentum and will give the Blazers a good fight, but you are right about just one thing the Knicks have sucked for a long time but so did Portland for many years there, there was absolutely no threat for my Jazz in the Northwest division for many years, but both teams are on the upswing of things, and whats up with all the CAPITALIZED WORDS?? I guess thats just your steez huh..

    All good points, Shan.

Well the Knicks lack something that even Portland had when they were losing...the same thing the Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and Lion lacked...

    Heart, courage, and a brain...

The only Knick fan who really cares about the team is Spike Lee...

Other then that, their ticket is LOW on the totem poll of FUN in NYC...
