College Football Week 14: Rivalry Week Complete Picks and Scores

Jonny SAnalyst INovember 27, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Last week I struggled with my picks, going 14-8, but overall I am having a very good season. My upset picks last week were right on for most, but others I missed completely. Hopefully this week I can get back on track!

Rivalry week gives us some great matchups and a lot of passion from the fans! It should be a great holiday weekend for football, and hopefully the BCS picture will become a little more clear...I highly doubt it though.

Thursday Night Thanksgiving Football

Texas A&M at No. 2 Texas

Winner: TEXAS 51-17. This A&M team is not nearly talented enough or experienced enough to even challenge this Longhorns team.

"Black Friday" Football

West Virginia at No. 25 Pittsburgh

Winner: PITTSBURGH 31-24. Look for Pitt's running back McCoy to have a huge day (at least 140 yards and two TDs) vs. that WV defense.

Mississippi State at Ole Miss

Winner: OLE MISS 28-14. Houston Nutt is a great coach and his Rebels are a solid team. Miss. St., on the other hand, is not so good.

LSU at Arkansas

Winner: UPSET ALERT! Arkansas beats LSU 27-24. I just don't see LSU's offense putting up enough points. Arkansas isn't a good team, but neither is LSU.

Colorado at Nebraska

Winner: NEBRASKA 35-24. Both teams have a bright future, but Nebraska is simply better right now.

Fresno State at No. 9 Boise State

Winner: BOISE STATE 33-20. The Bulldogs of Fresno St. have not met expectations this season and won't spoil Boise State's year either.

UCLA at Arizona State

Winner: ARIZONA STATE in a tight one, 27-21. Arizona State is having an awful season but is still barely talented enough to hold off the young UCLA Bruins squad.

Saturday Football

No. 22 Georgia Tech at No. 11 Georgia

Winner: GEORGIA 31-22. The Yellow Jackets are a talented team and will definitely give the Bulldogs a good game, but I think Moreno has a huge game for Georgia.

Syracuse at No. 16 Cincinnati

Winner: CINCINNATI 37-14. The 'Cuse had a huge win last week, but this week will be another story.

Miami at NC State

Winner: NC State 31-28. Miami struggles on the road, and NC State is playing much better. I don't think the "U" can handle the Wolf Pack this weekend.

South Carolina at Clemson

Winner: CLEMSON 24-17. Both teams have been a disappointment, but I still think the Tigers are a better team. When will Spurrier produce a good quarterback again?

Virginia at Virginia Tech

Winner: VIRGINIA TECH 20-10. The Hokies are not as good as years past, but they are still good enough to make it to Tampa for the ACC Championship.

Kansas vs. No. 13 Missouri

Winner: MISSOURI 48-27. Offense galore here, and Missouri has enough defense to beat Kansas pretty soundly

Auburn at No. 1 Alabama

Winner: ALABAMA closer than people expect, 28-12. Alabama is just better in all facets, period. However, Auburn has a lot of pride and makes this close for a little while.

No. 4 Florida at No. 20 Florida State

Winner: FLORIDA 42-18. The Seminoles are improving and are on their way back, but Florida is too talented on offense.

Baylor at No. 7 Texas Tech

Winner: TEXAS TECH 49-24. The Red Raiders may start sluggishly due to last week's pathetic showing, but they will wake up in the mid-second quarter and pound the Bears.

Maryland at No. 21 Boston College

Winner: UPSET ALERT! MARYLAND ends BC's ACC Championship dreams 27-17. If Boston College's quarterback was playing, I would take the Eagles, but with a backup quarterback in this pressure-filled game...I will take the Terps.

North Carolina at Duke

Winner: NORTH CAROLINA 31-17. Both teams are on their way up from the bottom of the ACC but still have a lot of work to do.

Kentucky at Tennessee

Winner: Tennessee 24-13. I just don't see the Vols letting Fulmer go on a losing note. Congrats to Fulmer on a great career.

No. 23 Oregon at No. 17 Oregon State

Winner: UPSET ALERT! OREGON stuns the Beavers and wins 34-27. As a USC fan, I'm hoping Oregon State wins so USC can go to a different BCS bowl and show all of the haters that they are not an overrated program. Unfortunately, I don't think they can win without their star running back playing.

Notre Dame at No. 5 USC

Winner: USC 41-16. USC is a great team, and Notre Dame was supposed to be a great team...there is a big difference. I think USC might begin slowly like usual but will dominate the Irish throughout.

No. 3 Oklahoma at No. 12 Oklahoma State

Winner: OKLAHOMA 41-27. The Cowboys will put up a good fight for a while, but the Sooners' depth will be too much. Bradford should have a big game but might throw a couple interceptions as well that will keep OSU in the game for a while.

* Enjoy the games everyone, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Feel free to let me know your opinions and picks as well.
