If any of you read my "Shocking Predictions" article about this game, you know I got quite a few things right.  I told you that Boise State would have this game in hand early in the third quarter, and that coach Petersen would sub Southwick and Hedrick in for Heisman candidate Kellen Moore.

Well, that is exactly what happened.  I was at this game, and I have to tell you both of the guys who were in at quarterback for Moore impressed me.  Southwick took a couple of series before he calmed down and just played.  He then led the team, which still had quite a few starters, on a drive that concluded in a touchdown.  It was pretty impressive.

Then Mr. Hedrick took the field for limited action.  However, the one thing that caught my attention was this guy's ability to run.  When he took off from the pocket and ran the ball, the rest of the field seemed to be tracking in molasses.  I couldn't believe his speed.  Maybe it was an optical illusion brought on by the orange shoes of the Broncos last night, but I don't think so.

I predicted that Kellen Moore would go 28 of 34 for 350 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.  So how did I do?  Kellen Moore actually went 23 of 29 for 279 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions.  I had the number of touchdowns, incompletions and interceptions accurate.  I only missed in the area of yardage by a bit.

I also thought Boise State would get its running game going.  Well, it didn't happen like I thought it would.  I predicted Doug Martin would carry 22 times for 121 Yards and one touchdown.  He actually ran 21 times for 75 Yards and one touchdown.  I said DJ Harper would carry 14 times for 91 yards and one touchdown.  He actually ran 15 times for only 43 yards and no touchdowns.

The Broncos had better improve that running game or teams might somehow figure out how to slow down or shut down their passing game.

My score prediction was 45 to 13 in favor of Boise State.  The line was 33 and I told you that the Broncos would not cover.  They didn't.  The final score was 41 to 21, but it was 41 to 14 late in the game.  The Broncos backup defense gave up a score without a lot of resistance.

Overall, my predictions were pretty solid.  The Broncos looked very impressive for the first two and half quarters, but had a few clumsy issues late.  They still looked pretty good in my opinion, but I am sure coach Petersen wasn't happy with the last part of this game.
