Its Arsenal vs. Dynamo Kiev and there's little over four minutes of play left and it seems that Arsenal are going to slump to another disappointing draw but then suddenly the reliable leader Cesc Fabregas puts a comfortable pass into out-of-form striker Nicklas Bendtner who turns and smashes it in the back of the net for the winner.
A huge relief for the big Dane who has seen himself in very poor form and that vital goal should boost his confidence and belief in himself and his skill.Hopefully will see him return to form. Having only managed a feeble four goals this season, Bendtner has been the poorest out of the fit strikers, Bendtner has also contributed poorly in the league only managing one goal which is disappointing as he has played the most games up front out of all the strikers.
I have been harsh on Bendtner this season and some of his performances have frustrated me greatly, his first touch is often poor and he tends to be very clumsy and lazy on and off the ball.
Compared to Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie Bendtner lacks a lot of skill and pace and that strikers instinct plus with Eduardo almost return to full fitness he is likely to jump Bendtner in the thirrd striker role.
Carlos Vela I believe already is a much better striker than the Dane (but Wenger thinks other wise). Vela is still young but in a few years he should be well ahead of Bendtner.
I also think if Bendter was sold a pretty handy fee would come from it which would give Arsenal cash to buy either a stronger and more reliable striker or a much needed expierenced central midfielder or defender.
Arsene Wenger has no doubt a ton of faith in the youngster and Wenger prefers him to Vela because of his height and strength, but those aspects of his game have been disappointing recently and it has hurt Arsenal especially with the absence of Emmanuel Adebayor. His form has been noticed by the fans after his horrid performance against Aston Villa Nicklas Bendtner was apparently booed off when substituted for Carlos Vela.
But his recent goal may have just sparked something great, Bendtner obviously has talent and at 21, he still has a future plus his height can be used as a great advantage and a huge threat on goal.
If Bendtner's first touch and ball ability improves and he slowly works his confidence back up, he will definitely be a start striker for the Gunners and who knows maybe even jump Adebayor as the starting big man. But only the future will tell and for now the Dane striker just needs to make sure he keeps playing well and comes of the bench as he did against Kiev and make an impact.
With Emmanuel Adebayor out injured for at least two more weeks this time is vital for Bendter to get more experience and bag a few more much needed goals.

You wrote this yesterday, and Adebayor's status was not that he would be out for 2 weeks as of yesterday. In fact, as of yesterday, he was 50:50 for the Sunday game against Chelsea.
"If Bendtner's first touch and ball ability improves and he slowly works his confidence back up"
That is a huge IF. Bendtner has a horrible first touch, and fans are frustrated to see the big man rooted to the ground and have the ball bounce off of him.
He also performs some silly positioning and runs sometimes; the most maddening is trotting outside the midfielders instead of just heading straight to the penalty spot or drawing defenders away from the run of play.
I'm not sure he has what it takes to be the top pick striker over Adebayor, van Persie, Eduardo or Vela. In fact, I think any combination of those 4 will work when Arsene wants to deploy 2 strikers, which means the man with the pink boots is the odd man out when Eduardo comes back and Vela proves that his good form is here to stay.
Bendtner has been given lots of chances this season, and while the goal the other night was a good touch of skill, it might just be too little too late.

Why do you go on at Bendtner?
He is 21 and our FOURTH striker - Ade, RVP and Eduardo are ahead of him in the pecking order. If these three were fit he would be playing in the Carling Cup. The goal he scored on Tuesday shows what he can do, selling him would be stupid - we can't expect 30 a year off him, beside in the games he has been playing for us this year he has been upfront on his own alot which doesn't suit him.

I have been a bit harsh on Bendter but its been rather frustrating watching him and i think your right he should not be upfront by himself

If Ade, Dudu and RVP are fit and free of injury then Bendtner and his pink boots would be on the bench, that is the long and short of it - I think he has potential (lol coming over all Arsene Wenger)

To be honest, I've been extremely harsh and cynical regarding Bendtner's ability. If he didn't score that goal, his career would have been seriously in doubt. Could this goal develop his overall skill and ability; he has a little bit of confidence? No, it can't. He has worked incredibly hard, trying to get into the team and when he has, he underperforms. He rarely takes any chances and never manipulates his height advantage. Remember the United match? He had a shocker, missing two clear chances. Niklas won't be here next season, if he doesn't re-invent his game.
Having said all this, I hope that I am wrong. I do respect his efforts and want to believe that he is potentially excellent. He's got to prove himself quick!
