Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: 3 QBs on Verge of Fantasy Greatness in 2011

Quarterbacks are not only the key piece to an NFL offense, but they are also the key piece on your fantasy team.

Having an elite quarterback is almost essential to success, but you can get by with these three quarterbacks who are on the edge of glory.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills)

After taking over the reigns last season, Fitzpatrick has been on fire for the Bills. He leads the NFL in touchdown passes this season and has been terrific protecting the ball.

Fortunately for Fitzpatrick, he plays the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins in four of the team's remaining 13 games. Neither team presents much in the secondary, and he should be able to exploit those teams for huge weeks.

Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)

Who would have thought this?

Cam Newton is currently one of the top fantasy quarterbacks in the NFL, and he looks like a star in the making.

He picks up yards on the ground and through the air, and he is primed to continue this explosion for the remainder of the year.

The team does have a difficult schedule, though, so he may not explode every week. But if you have him in a keeper league, he is without a doubt the next best thing in fantasy football.

Rex Grossman (Washington Redskins)

Don't close your browser. This isn't as crazy as it sounds.

Since becoming the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins, Grossman has thrown for 300 yards in three of five games. He came up nine yards short this past week against the Arizona Cardinals.

As of this point, Grossman is sixth in the NFL in TD passes and ninth in the NFL in yards.

Grossman has thrown two interceptions this season, but one was a result of a dropped pass by Anthony Armstrong.

The main reason you want Grossman on your team is his upcoming schedule. After Washington's game against Dallas, the team faces San Francisco, Buffalo, St. Louis, Carolina and Miami in five of the next six weeks.

Expect some big weeks from Sexy Rexy in the near future.
