Your boys can stay silent now. The bragging rights live in Happy Valley this year. That's right, people—Penn State are BIG TEN CHAMPIONS and going to the Rose Bowl.
Oh, and the game against Michigan State wasn't close. Unless you call 49-18 close. Javon Ringer? 42 yards of rushing. The boy was bullied by an aggressive defensive line.
Brian Hoyer was hammered to the point that his backup looked better than he did. I guess revenge for 2007 is best served in Happy Valley, isn't it, Brian?
Oh, and Spread HD was in Beaver Stadium on Saturday night, with Daryll Clark performing brilliantly and Deon Butler grabbing a touchdown or two. Penn State's wide receivers are good—will we see them in the first day of the April draft?
But right now, let's forget about the Draft. The Penn State Nittany Lions are going to the Rose Bowl.
Joe Paterno, stand up. It was your recruiting class of 2005 that made this so special. Derrick Williams, Deon Butler, and Jordan Norwood became three of the best wide receivers in the nation over four years. You believed in freshman starters when these guys came to town, and the belief led to one of the rosiest four-year runs in Penn State history.
Daryll Clark came into his own at quarterback, and Pat Devlin looks like a pretty darned useful backup.
Can we ask for more of the same in 2009?
