Josh NasonNov 22, 2008

With so many events planned for early 2009 and so much happening with those events, here's some quick-hit information on the latest upcoming shows for the UFC, WEC, and Affliction.

UFC

UFC 94 (January 31st - MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las Vegas, NV)

The undercard for BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre is formalizing as Jon Fitch (19-3) vs. Akhiro Gono (27-12-7) at 185 has been signed. In addition, Lyoto Machida (13-0) vs. Thiago Silva (13-0) in a much-anticipated light heavyweight match will be on the undercard. Karo Parisyan vs. Dong Hyun Kim (185) and Stephan Bonnar vs. Jon Jones (205) has also been signed.

UFC 95

The organization's February ppv card was announced recently, coming on February 21st from the O2 Arena in London, England. The main event rumor is a superfight between Chuck Liddell vs. Anderson Silva (205). Terry Etim vs. Justin Buchholz is the only confirmed fight.

UFC Fight Night 17

The organization will put on a Fight Night card on Spike on February 7 with location TBD according to Five Ounces of Pain. Fight Night 16 is the 12/10 Fight For The Troops event in Fayetteville, NC, on Spike.

UFC 96?

News broke last week that the organization will return to Columbus, OH, and the Nationwide Arena on March 7th, unconfirmed by the UFC. If so, it's safe to assume this would be UFC 96. They last ran in Columbus in March with UFC 82 featuring Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson.

Affliction

Tickets are on sale now for the January 24th Day of Reckoning ppv featuring Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski (seen right), Renato Sobral vs. Matt Lindland, Josh Barnett, Vitor Belfort and more. Jay Hieron is on the non-televised portion of the event. For the full card, click here.

WEC

The group has finalized their card for Wednesday, December 3rd, on Versus. Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres defends against Manny Tapia, Brian Bowles takes on Will Ribeiro, Waggney Fabiano vs. Akitoshi Tamura and Joseph Benavidez vs. Danny Martinez are set for broadcast, while Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Cub Swanson, Mark Munoz vs. Ricardo Barros and more are set for action.
