WWE Raw Analysis: SmackDown Superstars Got Involved!

Daniel MasseyJun 7, 2018

Hello folks!

Last night we were treated to a SuperShow!

This means that Raw superstars were joined by SmackDown superstars live!

The reason I have done a slideshow concentrating on the moments where the SmackDown superstars were present, is because I think it worked perfectly.

All the SmackDown participants were injected into the show seamlessly, it didn’t destroy any feuds, and it did not once become stale and boring.

This analysis will explain why I think said moments were so good, and suggest other things I noticed from the invasion of the SmackDown superstars.

So without further ado, sit back, relax, and enjoy the read!

Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler

1 of 6

When Randy Orton’s music first began to play, I thought he was going to get involved in the Punk/Nash/Triple H fiasco. When I realised this was not the case I was more than relieved.

Instead, Randy took on the United States Champion Dolph Ziggler.

These two put on an absolutely excellent showcase that could have easily been the main event of last night if not a pay-per-view.

This made Dolph look good more than anything despite Randy picking up the win. It shows they are trying to build Dolph properly so that he will eventually become a threat to the title—not just pushing him straight to it as they did last year.

Ziggler showed that he could hang with the likes of Randy Orton and I think it will only be a matter of time before Dolph shows up in the main event of either Raw or SmackDown.

He showed last night why he deserves to be the United States Champion, and it was partly down to Randy Orton that he could showcase his skills.

Henry and Christian Interrupt Cena

2 of 6

Cena was boring me last night and weirdly mirroring Christian with his whining ways.

Henry interrupted this snore-fest and warned Cena of a whole new world of pain he was about to be introduced to. However, before this attack could get started, Christian came out and had a go at Cena.

The two men, Christian and Henry, looked set to tear apart the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship in a two-on-one confrontation.

I loved this because it showed two of the top SmackDown superstars trying their luck with the poster-boy of Raw and arguably the WWE.

Though this did not go down in the way anybody expected.

Sheamus Pop Confirmed!

3 of 6

Last week I wrote an article about SmackDown in which I expressed my delight at the reaction Sheamus got from the crowd.

Some informed me that this may have been overdubbed and therefore not a true reflection on how Sheamus was received by fans.

There can be no argument about last night. When Sheamus stormed the ring to give Cena some help against the two brutes about to attack him, the crowd went ballistic, as did I.

Sheamus has a huge following now, and is really over with the fans.

I love that this is the case and I think that Sheamus will make a fantastic fan-favourite in the many years to come.

Sin Cara

Hunico played Sin Cara last night judging by the physique of the masked sensation, taking on Jack Swagger in a match, which I thought was pretty good.

There were not a lot of botches and the match seemed to flow perfectly.

Sin Cara was merely there to put on an exciting show though, as the real story was the ever-growing feud between Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler distracted Swagger, allowing Sin Cara to execute his new flowing finishing manoeuvre.

John Cena and Sheamus vs. Mark Henry and Christian

5 of 6

The main event showed the final insertion of SmackDown superstars into the Raw Supershow.

The main event was the standard tag team match one would find at the end of a normal Raw show, but it was still gripping nonetheless.

John Cena and Sheamus picked up the win with a Brogue Kick followed by the Attitude Adjustment.

I thought this was the perfect way to end the show, especially after the confrontation earlier in the programme.

John Cena came out on top once again, but it also gave Sheamus a chance to once again breathe main event air.

All in all I thought it was an extremely successful show, coupled with the announcement of Punk/Triple H at Night of Champions, and the inclusion of Nash throughout the night.

What did you think? Did you think SmackDown held their own on Raw?

Do you think things could have worked out better?

Please leave a comment below. I try and reply to all comments.

I have a bit of a backlog at the moment, so please bear with me and I will get through them as fast as I can.

Thanks for reading!
