Andrea Bargnani: His Time Is Now

Brandon Ribak by Senior Writer Written on November 17, 2008

Andrea Bargnani has not been exactly a first overall pick success for the Toronto Raptors. Head coach Sam Mitchell knows exactly what he is doing, and placing the young 7-footer in the starting lineup shows his basketball intelligence.

Bargnani has the potential to become an outstanding player and will finally get another chance to show what he can do. His time is now, and if he can prove to be a consistent player in coach Mitchell’s offense and defense, his fantasy value will grow along with the Raptors' win column.

With Bargnani starting at the small forward position, the Raptors have an extreme height advantage over most squads.

Power forward Chris Bosh is listed at 6'10" and center Jermaine O’Neal at 6'11". If these three players work together to pose a threat on both offense and defense, they will have a great chance of making it to the Eastern Conference Finals this season. (Especially with Jose Calderon as their starting point guard.)

Predictions

The Raptors have a strong team in the Eastern Conference. They have a great coach, great fans, and the talent to become a championship team. It is still very early in the season, but if they can work together as a team and continue to put up wins, they will get their chance at winning it all this season.
