NHL Trade Rumours: Drew Doughty, Luke Schenn and More
SAN JOSE, CA - APRIL 23: Drew Doughty #8 of the Los Angeles Kings falls down when he is hit by teammate Justin Williams #14 and Torrey Mitchell #17 of the San Jose Sharks in game five of the Western Conference Quarterfinals during the 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at HP Pavilion on April 23, 2011 in San Jose, California. The San Jose Sharks have extended Logan Couture to a two-year $5.75 million contract.

This is a solid signing as Couture is still an RFA and will not be eligible for UFA status for a while.

Logan Couture has apparently told some people that his friend Drew Doughty has expressed frustrations regarding contract negotiations with the Kings.

I would be frustrated too if I was a franchise defenceman and the team that drafted me lowballed me. This is not a good idea by Dean Lombardi, other free agents will take notice and not deal with LA.

The Bruins are not close to a deal with Brad Marchand and they may trade his rights.

A minor thing, I think they will get it done. Even if they don't, Marchand is not that big of a part of the team.

The Edmonton Oilers may be close to a major trade. These rumour-mongers cannot figure out with whom or for what.

I would expect them to deal forwards for defencemen. Toronto and Philadelphia may be interested.

Sidney Crosby should return in time for the NHL season opener. However it is impossible to say for sure as he has been visiting lots of doctors.

Concussions don't have a timetable for recovery. It all depends on luck really. I wish Sidney Crosby a speedy recovery and hope he returns before the season opener. I also hope my friend is not right in that this could ruin his career like Eric Lindros (yes, he was amazing at one point).

The Buffalo Sabres are looking to move salary. This time it is not because they don't have the money, this is because they need the salary cap space.

They could bury some contracts in the minors, but it would be better to get draft picks and prospects back instead.

New York Islanders GM Garth Snow has stated that he has no plans to add a veteran forward at this time. He wants to give the young players a chance.

This is an excellent idea, and should squash any and all rumours that Alexei Yashin is returning to the Islanders. He's not.

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to negotiate with RFA Luke Schenn.

At this point it is interesting he has not signed. Neither has Zach Bogosian or Drew Doughty. I wonder if instead of Doughty (as the Kings have been unreasonable with him), that the dominoes start falling when Schenn signs. It is a possibility, though at this point everyone may make a panic signing.
