Revenge of the Tar Heels: Part 4

IconI loved the 1980's band The Hooters.  They had a couple of really good albumns/CDs after breaking away from being Cyndi Lauper's back-up band.  One song in particular comes to mind: "And We Danced".  How appropriate for this time of year.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have danced their way into the Sweet 16 on both the men's and women's sides of the brackets.  Hey, dancing is far better with a partner isn't it?

Both came into their respective tournaments as number one seeds.

The men took Eastern Kentucky behind the woodshed in opening round action, 86 to 65, and Tyler Hansbrough led with the double-double of 21 points and 10 boards.

Saturday night the Spartans of Michigan State gave the Heels game until the last five minuted when Coach Williams' team took charge and pulled away for a 81 to 67 victory. Hansbrough removed the face mask and scored 33 to lead UNC.

Next up on the schedule is USC Friday night.

The women, on the other hand, had Prairie View in the first round, and mopped the floor with them 95 to 38.  One has to wonder if PV even came out for the second half, because their score sure didn't reflect it.

Notre Dame gave the Lady Heels a run for their money before being dismissed - obviously St. Patty's Weekend didn't hold much luck for The Irish.

George Washington is next on the dance card for the ladies.  I'm kinda bummed that I didn't get a chance to see them play here in Dallas, but was tied up with other obligations.

Dance, Tar Heels! All the way to the Championship!
