University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, fullback/linebacker, Michael Shack (6’2"/295) is anxiously awaiting the day he reports to camp with the Grand Rapids Rampage Football Club of the Arena Football League.
Michael played for the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football Development League; otherwise known as ArenaFootball2 (AF2) for the 2006-2007 seasons.
He helped to lead the Tulsa Talons to their 2007 Arena Cup Championship. Michael is one of the six players from the Talons who have been promoted this season to the AFL.
In keeping with the theme and spotlight on the AFL Rookie Class of 2008, I contacted Michael to find out some things about him that the average arena football fan would probably like to know.
Here are some of the basics:
Hometown: Little Rock, AR
Coach who made a lasting impression: North Little Rock High School Coach John Narkinski.
Who's in your entourage? Chad Ruffin, one of his best friends and one of his former Tulsa Talon teammates who signed with the Chicago Rush.
Pet peeve: People who ask too many questions—this linebacker is a private person.
Is there an AFL player out there that you can't wait to play against? Michael would love to battle with Steve Watson, fullback/linebacker from the San Jose Sabercats. Look out Steve, Michael has a score to settle from the Arkansas Twister days.
Have you ever tried yoga? He's never tried yoga, but wants to.
Last movie he has seen: "First Sunday" starring Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan and Kat Williams.
Who has made an impression on you? Michael lists his mom, Darlene Minefee, as the person who made him made a lasting impression on him.
Are you a trash talker? He said he is among the best trash talkers.
Michael is headed to Michigan for the first time to join his new team. He is married to Esquita Shack and has a daughter, Keira.
