The Mets have a minor void in left field. They can opt to turn David Murphy/Nick Evans combo if they want. They can also sign Juan Rivera, who is a favorite of General Manager Omar Minaya.

Nobody has talked about Pat Burrell. It appears he will be ostracized after winning a World Championship. Should the Mets sign this Met-killer?

New Phillies' GM Ruben Amaro has said that he would like to spend money on his pitching staff and that doesn't mean Pat Burrell. The Phillies have also discussed Matt Holliday to replace Burrell.

I know the Mets won't be spending big bucks on the offense (as Omar has pointed out), but Burrell might come cheaper, just to be a thorn in the Phillies' side.

He is defensively challenged, but he is a right-handed bat that can hit lefties. He has a decent OBP. I don't think the Mets should go after him, but it has been a great debate with friends and fans alike.
