WWE: Why Del Rio Cashing in His MITB Any Time Soon Would Be a Big Mistake

Everyone knows the storyline that is happening within the WWE. CM Punk, John Cena and Triple H are stealing the show every week on RAW, but in reality, they are the show.

This storyline has given the fans something they have been waiting for: a real, solid reason to tune into RAW every week.

Right now, no one knows what they have planned and what is going to happen with the weeks leading into SummerSlam. When tuning into RAW, there is a degree of uncertainty, unpredictability and caution, because many fans do not want this storyline to get ruined by something stupid.

The chemistry between the three is perfect. Punk and Triple H know how to feed off of each other. Triple H and Cena showed that they can develop some sort of friction and problems by the way they both act, and we all know how well Cena and Punk do in the ring together.

This is the perfect storyline for the fans to enjoy and watch. There are many different directions that this can go, whether it be putting Punk or Triple H over more in their new positions, or even if it is to show that Cena can actually wrestle. The possibilities are endless. This storyline can continue all the way to the next WrestleMania if WWE really wanted to and if they did it right.

However, there is one thing that could happen that would throw all of that off. Something that would disrupt the entire angle and throw the IWC into a possible rage if it was to happen soon: Alberto Del Rio cashing in his MITB contract and winning the title in the very short future, maybe after the main event at SummerSlam?

The worst part about that is it's a very real possibility since WWE has been waiting to crown him with the belt somehow since his debut.

There are plenty of people out there right now who would not mind at all if this happened, or would be happy that it did. For the business side of WWE though, it would be a horrible and bad move to go forward with.

Why though?

Pretty simple, I already explained it. This angle is perfect the way it already is. There is no reason to throw in a monkey wrench like Del Rio winning. The WWE has CM Punk, their hottest superstar of not just WWE, but of wrestling, Triple H with his new position of power and the possibilities of where it can be taken and John Cena, who is in the best situation of his career.

He is in the middle of the best storyline to come out of WWE for the past five years. Love him or hate him, he knows how to work the crowd, the situation and most importantly, the storyline forward in the best possible way(s).

He is not afraid to lose cleanly to Punk or get cheated if it. He is very flexible, and because of that, it helps this angle have endless possibilities, as I stated multiple times.

With Alberto winning it would disturb the flow of the storyline. Sure, if this was to happen, both Punk and Cena would demand their rematch clauses and end up with a triple threat at the next PPV for the title. That match is something I would not mind seeing, but why bother when right now, the best way to move forward is to continue what they are doing right now?

It is much like the phrase, "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it." That exact statement applies perfectly with this situation. To attempt to change this storyline from what it is already would anger the IWC and cost the WWE in the long run for a lot of their fans.

However, it appears that this seems to be the case, according to Wrestling Observer (h/t No DQ), "After this week, the plan is still to give Alberto Del Rio the WWE Title. The winner of John Cena vs. CM Punk at SummerSlam is supposed to lose to Del Rio before WWE goes to Mexico in mid-October."

The only silver lining here would be if WWE changes their mind on a consistent basis. I can only hope the week of SummerSlam changes once again.
