WWE Summerslam 2011: Christian vs. Randy Orton—Top 5 Ways to Improve Match

Now that the match is official for Summerslam this year in LA, let's get down to examining the highly anticipated bout. The storyline leading into the clash has been top notch, one of Smackdown's best angles in the past couple years. Christian is the current title holder, with Orton right on his tail ready to strike and take the belt back! As great as the situation has been, here is 5 suggestions as to how the match come August 14th could be even better...

Make It Their Final Encounter

The feud has been going on now for months. While I am a huge fan of prolonged feuds, this one has to come to an end soon, and what better place than the 2nd (3rd?) biggest show of the year? Make this one for all the marbles - no more excuses, no more rematches. Nothing. It all ends here!

Add Some New Blood

I don't mean add anyone to that match. No, keep it one on one. I target this wish for the men NOT on the Summerslam card. Have Cody Rhodes, Big Zeke, Justin Gabriel, whoever in the back watching this match on the monitors. Have a quick interview on who they think will win this match. Make it seem as big as possible, and the whole locker room is interested in who comes out on top. Ideally, this would be a hint into the future, as to who would get the next PPV title match.

Teddy Long Issues No Interference

This is intended for nobody to come out during the match and cause havoc. Keep Sheamus in the back. Keep Mark Henry away from the ring! Make sure Wade Barrett does not come out. Yes, even Daniel Bryan can stay away here. As my # 1 slide hinted at, make this the "end all, be all" match. One on one, two guys seeing who is the better wrestler.

Give It Time and Correct Card Placement

Nice picture, as Summerslam will be held in LA! Look, we all know Cena vs CM Punk for the WWE title will be the true main event and go on last. That is fine with me. Nobody is going to argue over that. What I don't want to see is another "WrestleMania situation" on our hands, where the World title match went on FIRST! Yes, one of the big matches went on...FIRST! That is a big no-no. WWE can not do that here. Put this in the second, maybe third final slot of the evening. Give it 20-30 minutes, and just let them tear each other apart!

Edge as Special Guest Referee

This one just seems like such a no-brainer to me. The man is retired, enjoying his time away. Hanging out with friends and family, letting his body heal up, living the good life.

However, WWE has him booked for a Fan Fest autograph appearance the day before SummerSlam (Saturday, the 13th). Why does that matter? Well, the location is none other than LA! Where the big PPV will be!

Hmmm...now back to current storylines with Christian and Orton, what has been the big issue the past few months? Officiating! The refs keeping screwing over their matches and causing controversy.

Edge will be in town, he has been traced to both men, and he can make sure nobody interferes, and we have a decisive winner once and for all. A little friction between Christian and Edge for old time's sake or maybe an "E" and "C" reunion for one night?

Either way, he would add so much by doing so little. Give SummerSlam an extra boost by having a "big-name return" and make Christian vs. Randy Orton one for the ages!
