WWE Brotherhoods: Five Stables We Need to See
Hello, everyone—I'm Colin Stone, and I'm a new writer on B/R.
As the Nexus proved with their inception and subsequent domination this time last year, stables are still a relevant and crucial part of wrestling.
Many wrestlers today—such as Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton to name but a few—began their careers in groups like Evolution and the Spirit Squad to propel them to future fame. A dominant force like Barrett's Nexus, although now falling apart, showed that stables still have a role to play in the WWE.
But with CM Punk's solo success leaving his armbanded-colleagues in the lurch, it doesn't look like the NXT rookies will stick together for much longer. So are there any new stables on the horizon?
Sure, we may never return the heyday of stables as in the Attitude Era, but here are five stables that I, and perhaps a few of you, would like to see.
5. The Nation of Decimation
1 of 6Members: Ezekiel Jackson; Mark Henry; Big Show; The Great Khali; Kane; Brodus Clay.
Probability: Very low
As with the Nation of Domination in 1996, this group of big men could utterly destroy the WWE.
Just imagine - six of the biggest men in the WWE in one gigantic stable. They would probably squash every opponent they came up against.
However, it's doubtful that you'll be seeing Ezekiel Jackson and The Great Khali team up against the New Nexus anytime soon (although that would obviously be a dream matchup).
Kane and The Big Show are both out of aciton for extended periods of time after being injured by the destructive Mark Henry, whilst Big Zeke is the current Intercontinental Champion and Great Khali is busy with his pal Jinder Mahal. Brodus Clay hasn't been seen on TV for months.
This, although highly unlikely, could literally be a monster stable.
4. Underdogs
2 of 6Members: Jack Swagger; Dolph Ziggler; Chris Masters; Evan Bourne; Vladimir Kozlov; Tyler Reks; Santino Marella; Tyson Kidd.
Probability: Low
(Apologies for the awful stable names, but you get my point!)
This may not be the most powerful or dominant of stables, but perhaps their sheer numbers could bring them success?
With Jack Swagger or Dolph Ziggler at the helm, along with wrestlers who have been constantly misused, underrated or simply ignored, this mid-card stable could propel some of the members to greater things.
Nevertheless, it's doubtful that this sort of stable would come about at this moment in time.
Swagger and Bourne have just embarked on a mini-feud; Dolph is the current US Champion; Masters, Kozlov, Marella and Kidd have only been seen on Superstars of late; whilst Reks hasn't been seen at all. Has anyone actually seen this man wrestle a match?
This stable could be moderately successful (if it ever came about, that is).
3. The Broskis
3 of 6Members: Zack Ryder; Curt Hawkins; Primo; Scott Stanford; William Regal; The Big O.
Probability: Medium
Woo woo woo! You know it, bro!
Long Island Iced Z's Broskis could well make an impact in the WWE.
After the success of his weekly Youtube show Z! True Long Island Story, Ryder could well form a stable out of the allies and friends he's made from week to week.
Ryder and Hawkins could restore some respectability to the Tag Team Championship, whilst Zack himself could (and already should) be in the Intercontinental (or WWE) Championship hunt.
However, with Ryder's new position as assistant to Teddy Long on Smackdown!, forming a stable in the near future might be too much on his plate.
Plus, one of the wrestlers I've listed above isn't even employed by the WWE, one is a commentator and the other is a 43 year-old semi-retired wrestler/commentator...
2. Cult of Personality
4 of 6Members: CM Punk; Daniel Bryan; Colt Cabana; Evan Bourne; Chris Hero; Claudio Castagnoli; other disgruntled/unhappy WWE wrestlers.
Probability: High
Having led the SES and the Nexus to varying degrees of success, CM Punk's next venture could come right off the end of his current feud with John Cena.
During his now infamous shoot on Raw, Punk basically summed up how he was unhappy with his current position within the company - and I'm sure he's not the only one in the locker-room who feels this way.
Hence this stable.
But he could (and I know this is receiving a lot of backing already) just create an entirely "RoH stable" to take on the best of the WWE.
Punk could recruit his former RoH buddies Daniel Bryan, Evan Bourne and perhaps Tyler Black, as well as the newly-signed Kings of Wrestling, Hero and Castagnoli, to aid his cause.
But to make the stable even more dangerous, he could have other disgruntled WWE employees such as Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett, R-Truth and Cody Rhodes join up.
It's still too early to call where the Punk-Cena angle is headed though, so any suggestions of a stable being formed by the WWE Champion are perhaps slightly premature.
Although I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see this particular group form.
1. The United Kingdom
5 of 6Members: Sheamus; Wade Barrett; Drew McIntyre; Mason Ryan; William Regal.
Probability: High
Surely I'm not the only one who has realised how easy this stable would be to form and how successful they could be?!
Sheamus, an Irishman; McIntyre, a Scotsman; Barrett, an Englishman; Ryan, a Welshman.
And there we have it—The United Kingdom. Perhaps even just The Kingdom!
Sure, only Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but Sheamus can still fit the bill here.
With Regal as manager, this stable could take over the WWE. Sheamus, McIntyre and Barrett could all assert themselves in the main-event scene, whilst someone like Ryan could dominate the mid-card. Both Sheamus & McIntyre and Ryan & Barrett would be formidable tag-teams.
The only thing stopping this group at the moment is their current statuses—Ryan is injured and is still a part of Nexus; Sheamus is in the middle of a babyface turn; Barrett looks to be starting a feud with Daniel Bryan; whilst poor old Drew McIntyre is doing absolutely nothing. *sniff*
This is a potentially powerful (and probably successful) stable just waiting to happen.
Conclusion
6 of 6So that's it! Any of those stables you feel would work, or are possible in future?
