TNA Wrestling: Who Will Win the Bound for Glory Series?

Kyle SchadlerJul 29, 2011

On June 16, TNA introduced a new concept in the Bound for Glory Series. It features 12 wrestlers battling it out in various types of matches to earn points. The series ends on September 11 when the top four point earners compete in a fatal four-way match.

The winner will face the TNA World Heavyweight Champion the following month at Bound for Glory.

Who will go all the way? Here are the standings as of this morning:

Offseason Moves for Every Team šŸ‘‰

  • Crimson: 38
  • Gunner: 28
  • Rob Van Dam: 28
  • Matt Morgan: 24
  • Bobby Roode: 21
  • Bully Ray: 21
  • Devon: 21
  • James Storm: 21
  • A.J. Styles: 14
  • Scott Steiner: 14
  • D’Angelo Dinero: 7
  • Samoa Joe: 0

Dinero defeated Joe last night at a house show, thus finally getting on the board. Beer Money also picked up a victory last night by beating Ray and Gunner. I am unable to find a report of who got the pin for Beer Money so either Roode or Storm now has 28 points.

Unfortunately for Matt Morgan, he revealed last night on Impact Wrestling that he has a torn pectoral muscle. So Morgan seems to be out of the series. With the Blueprint out of the equation who will step up their game?

The answer is that everyone already has. Every televised match in the BFGS has delivered at least a three-star match. From reports I’ve read from house show matches, they’re just as good—if not better—than the matches featured each week on Impact Wrestling.

Each wrestler has certainly stepped up his game and some have really surprised me.

Gunner, while still a bit green, is proving himself in the ring. He’s been hanging with some of the best and has held his own. Last night on Impact Wrestling he and Rob Van Dam had quite the good match.

Bully Ray and Devon have also impressed me in this series, especially Ray. I always found that Devon was the better of the two, but these past few months Ray has proven me wrong. While Devon is good in the ring, Ray is better at telling a story.

On the other hand, I’m growing tired of Crimson. TNA seems to shove him down our throats and I fear that he’ll win the whole thing.

Last night on Impact Wrestling he faced Ray in a match. With Crimson’s undefeated gimmick, he of course won. Ray carried the whole match on this back, though. He dominated the whole thing until Crimson hit his finisher out of nowhere for the win.

Personally, while he does seem to be improving, I think he needs to be sent back to school.

Before the week is over, there will be four more matches at two house shows in Texas. Those matches are:

  • Beer Money vs. Bully Ray and Gunner vs. D’Angelo Dinero and Devon
  • A.J. Styles vs. Bully Ray
  • Bobby Roode vs. Samoa Joe vs. Gunner vs. Devon
  • James Storm vs. D’Angelo Dinero

So who’s going to win this? Crimson and Gunner will no doubt be two of the final four. My predictions for the other two are Bobby Roode and Bully Ray. If Morgan weren't injured, I’d have him instead of Roode.

As for the winner of the whole series, I’m going with Bully Ray. Crimson will not be pinned, so his undefeated streak will remain intact.Ā

Ray is the best heel in TNA, and possibly one of the best in the business today. His character’s ego needs this and it will drive him to victory.

The only other question is this: Who will be the champion come Bound for Glory?

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a question for next time.
