Fantasy Baseball: Is It Time to Give Up on Guillermo Moscoso?

In his past two starts Guillermo Moscoso is 0-1 with a 10.24 ERA, raising his ERA from 2.16 to 3.47. I know that two starts doesn't make a season, but is this a sing of things to come? It's possible, but I don't know how wise it would be to ignore 50 innings of work for a rough 9-2/3 inning patch. Especially when he was 3-4 in that 50 innings with the aforementioned 2.16 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP.

Moscoso has had four bad outings in which he gave up four or more runs in 6-1/3 or fewer innings. I'm not going to sugarcoat it and say those aren't harmful starts, but you do have to take into consideration the fact that he gave up one or fewer runs in five of his 10 starts and two runs in the other.

Moscoso was decent in 2009 with the Rangers, sporting a 3.21 ERA in 14 innings. Last year in just 2/3 of an inning he had a 27.00 ERA. He pitched well for Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2009 with a 2.31 ERA in 70 innings. Last year didn't go nearly as well for Triple-A OKC as he sported a 5.18 ERA.

This year Moscoso got off to a solid start for Triple-A Sacramento with a 3.88 ERA in 46-1/3 innings. Then came the big league success with Oakland.

That success is not likely sustainable as it is aided by a ridiculous .219 BABIP. Some of his recent failure can be attributed to his luck running out as he sports a .263 mark for the month after posting .211 and .196 in May and June.

Basically I don't think he'll be as good as he was in his first 50 innings or as bad as he's been in his past two starts.
