Ronnie Brown: Top 5 Destinations for Former Dolphins RB
Now that the Miami Dolphins traded for Reggie Bush, it appears Ronnie Brown won't be returning. So where will the free agent running back go?
The limited time of the free agent period forces players to react quickly to any offers that come their way. Brown will be coveted by a number of teams because he is still a very talented running back.
The 29-year-old running back still has some good years left in him, and he will serve as a good platoon back for whatever team picks him up.
5. Miami Dolphins
1 of 5Yes, the Miami Dolphins just traded for Reggie Bush and signed him to a two-year deal, but they could still bring Ronnie Brown back.
The Dolphins weren't going to keep Brown and Ricky Williams on the roster, but they can bring back one of them.
There is no way the Dolphins can feel comfortable with just Bush and rookie Daniel Thomas in the backfield. Bush isn't much of a running back these days anyway.
4. Washington Redskins
2 of 5The Washington Redskins aren't going to be very good in 2011. They just traded away their veteran quarterback, and guys that should only be backups in the NFL will be competing for the starting role.
Ryan Torain emerged as a solid back last year, but the Redskins could use a veteran running back on the roster. Adding Ronnie Brown won't cost the Redskins all that much for Washington, and he will be a nice complement to the Torain and the team.
3. Baltimore Ravens
3 of 5The Baltimore Ravens cut ties with Willis McGahee, which means they will be expecting a lot from Ray Rice this year. Rice didn't live up to the hype last year, and the Ravens need to have a backup plan.
With McGahee gone, Ronnie Brown can step in and be used in a limited but still effective role. Brown won't cost the Ravens too much, and he will be a better backup than anyone else on the roster.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4 of 5The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are well under the 2011 salary cap, and they have the means to make some big time moves. So far, they haven't done anything yet, but we should see something in the coming days.
LeGarrette Blount stole the show for the Buccaneers last year, but there is guarantee that he will dominate in the backfield in 2011. Tampa Bay won't be bringing Cadillac Williams back, which means they need to have other options at running back.
Signing Ronnie Brown would give the Buccaneers a legit veteran on the roster, which will come in handy if Blount struggles this season.
1. New York Giants
5 of 5Ahmad Bradshaw is not going to re-sign with the New York Giants. Bradshaw will have to take less money to play in New York, and that is something he doesn't want to do.
After all, the Giants paid Brandon Jacobs a large contract a couple of years ago, and naturally Bradshaw wants a similar deal, especially since Bradshaw has out performed Jacobs.
This all means that the Giants are going to need another running back to work with Jacobs. Adding Brown would be a smart decision if Bradshaw leaves. I would be surprised if Bradshaw returns to the Giants.
