WWE: My Friday Night Smackdown 7/29
Welcome Bleachers to another edition of My Friday Night SmackDown. Before we begin with the show, let's look at last week's show.
Randy Orton issued his rematch clause and will challenge the world heavyweight champion Wade Barrett in a steel cage match for the WHC.
Justin Gabriel defeated Jey Uso in a good back and forth match.
Ezekiel Jackson defeated Cody Rhodes by DQ when Ted DiBiase interfered. The two men beat down Jackson and taunted him as we went to commercial.
Drew McIntyre was thrown into a match with Kane. McIntyre defeated Kane with help from Skip Sheffield.
Miz received another letter, this time it reads:
"Miz you can't seem to get anything going in your favor. Miz I have a challenge for you, if you can win three matches before SummerSlam, I will reveal myself at SummerSlam, and you and I can go one on one. I hope you win Miz, because I am getting bored, and I need some ring action."
On the back of the note is the letter "i."
Randy Orton took on Wade Barrett for the WHC. Orton looked like he could win on two separate occasions but the Empire Alliance stopped him. Barrett eventually won and walked out with the title.
Opening Segment
1 of 9Christian comes out first and he is smiling. He grabs a mic and says now that Randy Orton has used his rematch clause and lost, Christian is now the No.1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. This claim brings out Wade Barrett and the rest of the Empire Alliance.
Barrett says that Christian has lost more than enough times and can no longer be considered a threat to the World Championship. Christian starts to talk but Barrett thinks otherwise.
"You see Christian, Teddy Long has taken the night off due to a personal problem. He has asked that someone who is experienced and wise run the show tonight. Christian, tonight William Regal is in charge!" The crowd lets out a series of boo's but Regal takes Barrett's mic and makes them all quiet down.
Regal says that tonight, Christian will take on Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. If Christian can find a partner then it will be a tag team match, if not then it will be a handicap match.
Regal and the group leave leaving Christian in the ring without his title match.
Match1: Heath Slater vs. Jimmy Uso
2 of 9Slater is out first to decent heat.
Jimmy Uso is out next to a good reaction.
The two men go for aĀ test of strength with Uso coming out on top. Jimmy throws Slater into the corner and hits him with a few chops. Jimmy goes for a DDT but Slater counters and hits a DDT of his own.Ā Slater goes for the pin and gets a one count.
Slater gets up and grabs Uso. Slater goes for a bulldog but Uso counters and throws Slater off the ropes. Uso hits a shoulder block andĀ a clothesline before hitting a fall away slam. Uso goes for the pin but Slater kicks out at two. Uso locks in a surfboard stretch but Slater fights out of it and hits a dropkick.
Slater hits a swinging neckbreaker and goes for the pin but Uso kicks out at two. Slater gets angry and starts yelling at the referee. Uso crawls up from behind Slater and rolls him up for the three count.
Uso gets out of the ring and Slater continues to yell at the referee as we head to commercial.
Match 2: Natalya vs. Alicia Fox
3 of 9Natalya is out first to a good reaction.
Alicia Fox is out next to nice heat.
Natalya goes after Alicia but Fox kicks her in the gut and goes for a running knee to her face. Natalya gets up and clotheslines Alicia. Fox hits the mat and Natalya goes for a Sharpshooter but Alicia grabs the ropes. Alicia crawls to the outside and Natalya grabs her hair. Alicia pulls Natalya's neck and head over the rope and she goes flying.
Alicia runs back into the ring and rolls up Natalya. Natalya kicks out at two and starts hitting Alicia with a few right hands. Fox goes to the corner and Natalya hits a clothesline. Fox stumbles out of the corner and Natalya hits her with a belly to belly suplex.
Natalya locks in the sharpshooter and Alicia Fox taps out.
Backstage
4 of 9The Miz comes into William Regal's "office" and asks him for an easy opponent tonight. Regal agrees and says that he has someone in mind. someone that has always talked bad about the Empire and everything its stands for. Miz leaves and the Empire Alliance plans for tonight's main event as we fade to commercial.
Match 3: Ezekiel Jackson vs. Ted DiBiase
5 of 9Jackson is out first but he doesn't have his usuall smile on his face. He is still angry from last week when DiBiase interfered in his match with Cody Rhodes.
Ted DiBiase is out next and he is without Rhodes. Ted has a worried look on his face as he gets in the ring.
The bell rings and jackson hits Ted in the head with a big right hand. Jackson stomps on DiBiase and hits him repeatidly. The referee makes Jackson back off but he continues the assault. DiBiase comes running at Jackson but Jackosn has other plans.
Jackson flips DiBiase in the air and he hits the mat. Jackson the hits a military press and a clothesline. Jackson hits DiBiase with a few slams before Cody Rhodes music hits. Jackson turns his attention to the ring ramp but rhodes doesn't come out.
DiBiase rolls up Jackson but Jackson kicks out at two. DiBiase then gets up and yells towards back stage for Rhodes to come out but he doesn't. DiBiase turns around and runs right into a big clothesline. Jackosn then locks in his torture rack and DiBiase taps out.
Match 4: The Miz vs. ?
6 of 9The Miz is out first. Miz needs to win threeĀ matches before SummerSlam so he can find out who his mysterious note writer is.
Miz is waiting for his opponent when Booker T's music hits and he comes out in ring gear. Booker T will be the Miz's opponent.
Miz looks concerned and Booker T gets in the ring with a big smile on his face. The bell rings and Booker connects with a big slap to the Miz's chest. Booker then hits a clothesline and a kick to Miz's face. Booker goes for the pin but Miz kicks out at two.
Booker gets the crowd behind him and goes for a scissors kick but Miz moves out of the way and hits a neck breaker. Miz then hits a DDT and goes for the pin. Booker kicks out at two and Miz throws him in the corner. Miz goes for and hits his running clothesline. Booker falls to the mat and Miz sizes him up for the Skull Crushing Finale.
Booker gets up and Miz goes for the moveĀ but Booker counters and hits a kick to the Miz's head and then hits a scissors kick. Booker T does a spinaronie and goes for a bookend. Booker grabs Miz but Miz counters and rolls up Booker T. Miz grabs Booker's tights and gets the victory.
Booker is in dismay while Miz smiles and heads to the back.
Main Event: Sheamus and Drew McIntyre vs. Christian and ?
7 of 9Sheamus and Drew McIntyre come out first to great heat. The two men get in the ring and await their opponent(s).
Christian is out first and makes for the ring. He has a look of concern on his face and when the referee asks him if he found a partner he says no.
The referee goes to call for the bell when Randy Orton's music hits and he comes out to the ring. He has a mic and says "Christian, I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing this so I can kick those two cowards asses".
The match begins with Orton and McIntyre in the ring. McIntyre goes for a kick to Orton's gut but Orton hits him with a European Uppercut and then hits a clothesline. Drew backs into his corner and tags in Sheamus.
Sheamus comes running in the ring only to be met with a clothesline and a dropkick. Sheamus rolls to the outside where he and McIntyre discuss there plans as we head to commercial.
Back from the break, Sheamus and Randy are trading blows. Orton goes for a clothesline but Sheamus hitsĀ a big boot.Ā Shemaus goes for the pin but Orton kicks out at one. Shemaus throws Orton into his corner and he tags in McIntyre. The two hit a combination big boot and back breaker on Orton.
Drew hits a nice dropkick and goes for the pin, Orton kicks out at two. McIntyre tags Sheamus in and he grabs Orton. He goes for a neckbreaker but Orton counters and hits a powerslam. Orton then hits a dropkick and a backbreaker. Orton sizes Sheamus up for a punt to his head but when he goes for it Sheamus rolls out of the way.
Christian throws Sheamus back in the ring where Orton goes for a clothesline. Sheamus ducks and Orton runs into Christian and knocks him to the outside. Orton is in different and goes back to Sheamus bit the Celtic Warrior hits Orton with a bi clothesline and tags in Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre comes running in and hits a suplex. Orton crawls towards his corner where Christian has recovered. McIntyre grabs him and locks in a figure four leg lock. Orton fights out of it and hits a clothesline and then a dropkcik. Orton cralws over to Christian and goes for the tag. Christian thinks about itĀ but eventually tags himself in.
Christian hits McIntyre with a clothesline and punches Sheamus in the face. Christian sizes up McIntyre for a Killswitch but Sheamus comes running into the ring. Orton quickly goes in and hits an RKO. Christian grabs McIntyre and hits a Killswitch. Christian goes for the pin but Orton pulls him off and tells Christian that he is picking up the win.
Christian and Orton start pushing each other and eventually they trade blows. Orton hits Christian with a back breaker and turns around only to be hit with a Brogue kick. Christian gets up and smiles at Orton only to be grabbed and quickly hit withĀ a Future Shock by Drew McIntyre. McIntyre pins Christian and the Empire walks out bruised but not beaten.
Backstage
8 of 9Miz is backstage flirting with Rosa Mendes and telling her that now he is a winner. Miz getsĀ a pat on the back from William Regal as he walks by. Regal congratulates him and the Empire Alliance leaves the arena. Miz turns around and starts walking down the hall way when Rosa tells Miz that there is a note taped to his back.
Miz gets furious and tells her to take it off and read it.
It reads:
"Miz, congrats on your first victory in what seems likeĀ 15 years. Hell, 15 years ago I was tearing it up inside that ring. Miz, tonight you beat an old veteran in Booker T. But to be honest, Booker isn't exactly a spring chicken. You should be able to beat an older superstar. I wonder if you can beat a young, up and coming superstar. Miz, I have talked with Teddy Long about your opponent next week. But don't go asking Teddy what my name is because I used my code name of Mr.Wrestling."
Miz asks Rosa if there is anything else in the note and she says no. The Miz has no idea who his opponent is or who the note writer is. On the back of the note are the letters "E.C.W".
