Coming off an embarrassing loss at home against a good, not great, Steeler team would normally hurt a lot. Everyone - fans, players, and coaches - would want to get back out on the field this weekend and play hard. Get the nasty feeling we had after that loss on Monday night out of our heads. But, it's not going to happen anytime soon. And that's great news for the Redskins.
It's a perfect time for a bye week. Having played 14 weeks in a row, including preseason. More than any other team in the NFL. They deserve a week off. No playbooks, no practices, no meetings, and no football. This will be good for the team. They need to come back from there vacations and time-off rejuvenated. Ready for the home stretch of the regular season.
It's funny. Before the start of the season, and especially after the opening loss to the Giants, I figured they would be lucky to get too 6 wins. Here they sit at 6-3, with a bye week to get rested and re-focused, and the rest of there NFC East division foes coming to FedEx Field. Not to mention games against Seattle, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and San Francisco, who are a combined 10-23. It feels good to be a Redskins fan again.
So, let's hope the Redskins will take this week to look back and reflect on the first 9 weeks of the season, and take a much needed break from football. But at the same time, they also need to start thinking a little bit about the rest of the season too. They have a huge game coming up against a Dallas team that is slumping and gets there star QB back. This could be a make or break game for the 'Skins.
But that's so next week. For now the Redskins get a week off to relax and spend time recovering from injuries. They need to get everyone back healthy after this bye-week for that final stretch. The fans get a week off from agonizing over watching the tight games. Maybe we can get some things done around the house before winter hits and we start hibernating. It's a win win for everyone. Only problem is, our next opponent is in the exact same situation, and what's worse is, their backs are up against the wall.
