WWE: Why We Need to Let the CM Punk Storyline Run Its Course
To start off, I won't bore anybody with the details that we already know about this storyline. CM Punk and Cena build up their feud to One Night Stand-type hysteria, where obviously in Chicago, Punk defeats John Cena in the main event, wins the WWE Championship, and leaves the company with it in hand.
For months, CM Punk has been playing the social media game to perfection. His promos all became more intense in nature until his notable promo that everyone has seen. He was suspended for a week, came back, and cut another good promo that led us to Chicago, where he won.

He has tweeted some pictures of himself with the strap over the last couple of weeks, and also showed up right at the end of Raw when John Cena was celebrating his 10,000th title reign (for the record, what a bunch of crap it is to: A. Not give the belt to Miz, who doesn't have a good feud in sight, and B. Give it to Mysterio who turns around and not only defends it, but loses it in the same night).
Technically, CM Punk doesn't work for the WWE. He shows up when he wants and uses whatever entrance music he wants. So, he shows up, Cult of Personality plays for a couple seconds, and then out comes Punk to show Cena who the real champ is.
Anyhow, I believe that this was exactly the right time for Punk to make an appearance. What good does it do to give the belt to Cena and ignore the very fact that CM Punk is the reigning WWE champ? In a day and age when things are short-lived and everybody has a short memory span, why not have Punk make an appearance?
Let's remember that Money in the Bank wasn't free to watch; many people did not get to experience the very raucous Chicago crowd that booed every Cena move and cheered every Punk move. They didn't get to experience the entrance when This Fire blasted through the speakers, at which point the fans almost blew the roof off with noise.
CM Punk had to make an appearance. He had to show Cena, the fans, and the WWE Universe (IWC included) that regardless of his contract situation, he was indeed the champ.
The company is making a transition out of the PG era, which means that Cena is still getting cheers, and CM Punk is still going to get booed by the little Jimmys. Cena and Punk, as many before me have stated, are training the crowd as they did a short week and a half ago in Chicago. They are training the WWE universe in this transitional era of wrestling to clamor for an appearance from the guy they want, even if this appearance consists of showing up, lifting a belt, and showing the WWE Universe who the champ really is. If he doesn't come, all we see now is that Cena is champ again, and that Punk doesn't matter.
Let's have confidence in CM Punk that he's still doing this right. Hell, I know that I'm going to catch a lot of heat, but let's give this storyline a chance to play out. If it plays out, and sucks, let's all give creative hell. But it's not fair to say that it has failed before it even plays out. I'm totally into this. Lets see what happens.
What do you guys think?
