CU At the Game - Why the Buffs are 10-point favorites over Iowa State

Stuart WhitehairAnalyst INovember 5, 2008

Greetings, Buff fans, from
It could finally be a good weekend to be a CU fan. Not since week two against Eastern Washington have the Buffs been a double digit favorite (yeah, I know. Don’t remind me). If there is going to be a game to build on in November, 2008, which will help Buff fans through to September, 2009, it is this game.
In this week’s "T.I.P.S."
T - Talent.A look at ISU quarterback Austen Arnaud and CU receiver/returner Josh Smith.
I - Intangibles. How the loss of Rodney Stewart will help the Buffs.
P - Preparation/Schedule. Iowa State is the only team in the Big 12 eliminated from bowl consideration. How will that affect Saturday’s game?
S - Stats. If the Buffs can’t move the ball against this defense ... (okay, so the same was true last weekend, too).
Trivia -what aspect of the CU/ISU rivalry is in the NCAA record books? Why is a cardinal roaming the sidelines for the "Cyclones"?
This Day in History - "Ru-dy!", "Ru-dy!", "Ru-dy!"- the real game between Notre Dame and Georgia Tech (1975); Georgia’s one and only Buck Belue (1980); and CU/Missouri (2003).
Archive Game of the Week. This one is special. CU/ISU, 1980. The only win of my freshman year in Boulder. How could I forget?
"The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend" - the Ron Prince Memorial Edition
Missouri over Kansas State- In case you missed it, Ron Prince will be stepping down as Kansas State coach at the end of the season. Prince is 16-18 in 2 ½ seasons. Over that same time frame, Dan Hawkins is 12-22. Be prepared for comparisons. Your response? CU is loaded with freshmen; KSU is loaded with junior college players. Prince gambled on winning now; Hawkins is playing for the future. Which team do you think is in better position for 2009?
Kansas over Nebraska - the Jayhawks put up 76 against the Cornhuskers last season. Nebraska allowed 62 to Oklahoma last weekend. What will give this weekend in Lincoln?
Texas Tech over Oklahoma State- this one is close. What OSU team do we want coming to Boulder next weekend? Missouri lost two straight before taking out their aggressions against the Buffs. Is it better for the Cowboys to be in the top five in the nation, looking ahead to a showdown against Oklahoma, or out of the Big 12 South race after a second conference loss? I’m still going with the disappointed team as being the more vulnerable team. Go Red Raiders!
Enjoy your week, and your weekend! Go Buffs!
