Colorado Rockies Trade Rumors: Will Jim Tracy and the Rox Really Be Sellers?
The Rockies sit at 48-55, 11.5 games back of the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants. The Rockies are 25th in the league in pitching, which has been a main contributor, among others, for a rough and tumultuous season.ย
Jim Tracy and the Rox front office brass have a lot of decisions to make this next week as the trade deadline looms over Major League Baseball.ย
One of the names floating around in a lot of trade situations is Ubaldo Jimenez, the ace of the rotation who hasn't looked anything like an ace pitcher who recorded 19 wins with a 2.88 ERA last year. This year has been a different story for Jimenez, who boasts a 6-9 record with a 4.20 ERA. Ouch.

I am here to tell you that the Rockies will not be sellers of Ubaldo Jimenez' services; he is very valuable even though his record and numbers don't share the same sentiment.ย
The Rockies have listened to many talks and trade scenarios for the services of the right-hander, but most notably many of the calls have been coming from Cincinnati. The Reds have sent scouts to almost every Jimenez start for the last couple of weeks and they like what they see.ย
Some other players that the Rockies might be in process of trying to sell is catcher Chris Iannetta and first basemen Jason Giambi.
Iannetta is batting .233 and has 10 bombs. The Pirates were showing interest, but it seems they are losing interest. I do not think a deal will get done for Iannetta since the return value will not be high, maybe some mid-level prospects.
Giambi is probably the one player that will get shipped out despite his love for Denver and the club. Giambi has dropped 10 home runs in under 100 at bats this season. The Phillies seem to be going after the high-profile players, but Giambi could come at a lot cheaper price for them than say a Carlos Beltran.
On the whole, the Rockies will not be sellers like many think they will with Ubaldo Jimenez, but they may sell a couple of players no one is talking about in Jason Giambi and Chris Iannetta.ย
