Things Looking Up For Arsenal

Ashish WesleyJan 27, 2008

Another Monday...and well another start of an all too wonderful week at work!

At least things on the Arsenal front are looking up, after all the rubbish that went down after the Carling Cup exit.

There's next to nothing to write about and it's a bit of a challenge to come up with anything today.

But Ade has said some things and thats where I will start things off today. He is the man of the moment right now, isn't he? Referring to his altercation with Nicklas Bendtner as "just a little thing" he went on to say:

"We are big guys, so we talk about it - but it is behind us already. I am number 25, and he is number 26, so in the dressing room we sit very close. Sometimes it does happen - a child can fight with his father, and they are still friends.

"We have to take it in a positive way. We have our spirit and are together again as a family. We just want to achieve something together."

I don't know about a child fighting with his old man, but I get what he is saying for the most part. Really hope this issue is well and truly put to bed, the press have been on about it quite a bit.

Arsene has a bit of a go about the press blowing the whole Ade-Bendtner thing out of proportion as they are wont to do. He said that if indeed there was an issue it would be dealt with internally, and you would expect no different from Arsene. Upon being asked why both the players in question had apologised Le Prof said:

"Both of them apologised because they didn't give the best of images and because they shocked your virgin view of the game. It is funny because this is a country where you play rugby and everybody finds something where they may have hit each other and suddenly "Oh they might have touched him" and we are all shocked. I'm sorry you were shocked, I was not."

On to news from the African Cup of Nations where it turns out that Toure is carrying a bit of a knock. That means will sit out the Ivory Coast's game against Mali with a groin strain.

Doctors say he didn't recover in time to play this one. So gooners what say? Will the Ivory Coast get a bad result owing to Kolo's absence and get knocked out meaning Kolo will be back at Ashburton sooner? I for one will follow this story rather closely.

The Arsetard and I did eventually turn up at the football stadium at Bangalore for the TATA tea Arsenal Soccer School yesterday, but by the time we got there they had shut shop for the day only to resume today. So the both of us are going to take a look in a bit. For those of you who don't have a clue about what I'm saying have a looky here.

We take on Newcastle at home again in the second of the double header on Tuesday night (Wednesday early morning in India). The game is on ESPN at 1.15 am (Weds) in India, which makes it a 7.45 pm (Tues) kick off UK time.

We go into this one with plenty of confidence as you would expect after the win over them on Saturday. So three points and no less please!

And thats a wrap for today, told you there was nothing much.
